Villanova Fires Kyle Neptune

Calhoun wasn't perfect but he earned that right
Nope. Nobody ever earns the right to manipulate a situation to get their desired outcome. He earned the right to have his thoughts heard by whoever was doing the hiring, but not to completely dictate how things play out. Edsall took us to a BCS game, should he have been allowed to pick the next coach? Not really apples to apples, but it wasn't meant to be.

Your posts on this topic have gotten more ridiculous over time.

UConn was in a hellhole of a conference. If UConn had joined the Big East when it split, Ollie would have kept UConn very competitive.
Yes, and I would have married a supermodel. Unless you're Nostradamus, there's no way for you to divine what would have happened. Maybe he still gets divorced and still appears to stop trying, regardless of who was on our schedule.

I regret my comments from other night, but there are no take backs when one says something stupid. I really need to avoid boneyard after losses.
...and wins. This place is unbearable regardless of outcome. I'm just glutton for punishment.

It's Jim Calhoun the GOAT I'm good with it. Jeff Hathaway or Jim Calhoun picking the next coach hmm have to think long and hard about that one. If I sell you a car and it's in great condition and you crash it years later am I at fault for that?

There are about 20 fan bases in college basketball that wouldn't fire their coach right now if they knew that the next coach would get them a National Championship in 2 years followed by a few down seasons.

You just compared Calhoun to Edsall

"Novafor Chrissakes"

With better timing, this could have been your "Fort the Ead" moment. Instead, it might be a good time to close the thread.

Why? All the side matters that provide answers to your wondering about "Why 8k views?" will show up again in subsequent threads as they re-invigorate interest.
Sounds like the name of a PC player.

I like what Nova is doing with this search so far, as it feels like they're exploring vets & up and comers. Selfishly, would LOVE Mick back in the BE for entertainment value. My lord would the BE have easily the best set of entertainers at coach if he were back. Hurley, Pitino, Mick, Cooley would be a quartet of characters & a constant flow of sound bites. English brings some flare to the seat as well, he just needs to field a good team to make it worth the while. The rest of the gang is great too.

The league is a shadow of itself compared to 25 years ago so let's hope we see some leadership from Val and that the Villanova Board of Trustees is committed to winning. Maybe remind them what St. John's did in just two years.

Val should be all over this reminding Villanova the league's credibility regarding getting teams chosen for the tournament and its ability to generate media revenue is dependent on the member schools all being somewhat competitive and the desirability of having five or six name programs leading the way.

They were one of them the past ten years.......until the Neptune hire. They, and to some extent the league, can't afford a second massive failure so they should be going for a successful mid-major coach over some high level league assistant.
Based on what we’ve seen from Val the past few years I can pretty much guarantee you that she hasn’t spent a single second of her time on the Nova bball coach hire.

I'm sure the Nova was going to half ass the coaching hire, because they don't care that much, but if Val reminds them of how important it is, they will then take it seriously.

Val hasn’t left her house since JoAnne’s Fabrics said they were going out of business.

She’ll find out about the Nova vacancy at media day in the fall.

Hey hey, she’s been negotiating the next huge media contract in between mending the big east officials ripped uniforms, cut her some slack.

Apparently Kevin Willard is a serious candidate for Nova as well. (Also possible this is agent negotiating leverage).
