Dan, I love ya, but this is absolutely not on Klinsmann at all. We lost to the top 2 teams in the group under Klinsmann, with the whole hex left to play. When in the end, all you need to do is TIE TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO and can't do it, we don't get to point to losses to #1 Mexico at home and #2 Costa Rica away as the reason we're out.
Klinsmann may have rubbed people the wrong way and probably was not the answer, but USSF needs someone to come in and blow up the whole system from the ground up. Klinsmann was axed for suggesting as much and shaking up roster selection and development in a way that threatened the precious MLS and ole boy network.
Everyone at USSF needs to go. Everyone.
This isn't due to the MLS. Well, maybe it is if you consider that both game winners from Panama and Honduras play in the MLS.
Arena is squarely to blame for tonight, and Klinsmann for putting us in a hole to begin with. Arena tried to be too smart for his formation and Klinsmann tried to be too smart with his roster selections, which changed more often than my underwear.
There are more than enough pieces here to beat friggin Trinidad. If you don't, your a friggin dummy.
Milutinovic would have taken this same roster and would have finished top 2. That's the difference. Pay a world class coach, for !
Jurgen Klinsmann didn't just lose to TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO when all we needed was a DRAW. This is on Bruce, the players and the rest of the staff, not Klinsmann. Here's what you have to understand; most of this squad was also chosen by Klinsmann. A lot of the other options that people are mad about not having been developed were also not developed by Klinsmann. Numerous years under Klinsmann and our pool of players sucks. That part is ABSOLUTELY on Klinsmann.
Arena just happened to try to get cute on a day where we didn't need cute. We needed a standard professional performance. A tie would have done. Idiot that he is.
But Klinsmann absolutely gets to own a lot of this sh..tuff...

One of those rare moments Twellman and something he says is likeable; now that symbolizes the depths wrought by Gulati, Klinsmann, and ultimately Arena.By the way, the whole Twellman rant is worth the watch and hits the nail on the head
Nonsense. There was no system in Bora’s time.
During the Jurgen years there was. There is a bunch of money at stake and he was trying to shake things up. So, the one time he really slipped up the system shook him for good.
It wasn’t like what he was saying was wrong, he basically was saying the emperor had no clothes.
I will be interested in hearing what he has to say after Bruce is fired and he can really let loose.
People can argue many things, but reasonably argue Gulati should not be fired? Snake's head and all, buh bye Sunil!IDK how, with the situation wr just got ourselves in, you can argue that Gulati should not be fired.
Arena got cute more often than just today. He was like a poor man’s version of Jurgen. Jurgen had two bad nights. Arena had a bad year. And even still the MLS biased media praised him for doing the same things Jurgen did! Unreal!

Interesting take....will be interesting to see what happens.
The emperor had no clothes?
For years, he WAS the emperor! He was bringing this new style to American soccer which was going to change the way we did things. Ann's what was that exactly? Mostly, the same players you saw tonight. Altidore. Bradley. Besler. Gonzalez. Wood. Yedlin. Do you honestly think this is different than Klinsmann???
It's exactly Klinsmann, which is what makes me mad as hell! Changing formations from game to game. No stability in center back pairings. No attempt to develop another center midfielder. Same goalies. I swear, if i didn't know ant better, i would think the US was a country of 60 people, and wee just choose the same 11 that we always do for the last 7 years...
Yup. Exactly right. "For doing the same things Jurgen did." I'm glad you get it now too...
You mean like last qualifying, when the USMNT won the Hex? Ummmm okay...
I can forgive him for losing to Argentina in the Copa. Most team in the world would have succumbed to the same fate.

When you chat about Klinsmann and how he changed everything for the better and shook up the system and said the emperor had no clothes, I want you to remember where all these names came from that you are criticizing. For years....FOR YEARS he played the same players you are bitching about today. Gonzalez, Ream, Besler, Zusi, Bradley, Bedoya, Altidore, etc. Literally for years.
He owns the fact that we have not properly evaluated better players than the ones that saw the field today. Arena owns the fact that he couldn't take the players he had today and tie friggin' Trinidad...
Klinsmann deserves some of the blame, he lost the team and was rightfully fired at that point. I never wanted Arena, we needed a tactical coach who can teach the team how to play as a unit. Arena does deserve most of the blame though, if you can't beat Honduras and T&T, something is really wrong.Twellman criticized everyone, including Klinnsman. How does that vindicate JK?
That's a rhetorical question. It doesn't. He sucked too.
