USF Fires Their Coach

Mid-season firing hints at something other than the lack of wins. Wasn't there some type of academic investigation underway?

He learned from the cheating master. Interesting that Orlando's brother was an assistant coach and was recently fired. Orlando knows nepotism too. I suspect Calipari will hire him back soon to enhance Kentucky's recruiting efforts.

Don't think giving him 2.33 years is enough time implement his system. Like someone else said, makes you think something more than wins and losses was a factor.

USF is brutal this year, maybe they sensed a Diaco ending. Everybody wants to hire the great recruiter, but a lot of guys are only as good as the coach/school they recruit for.

I agree they have had a brutal season. At 6-7, they have a better record than we do......

Cal's disciples don't work out too well. Barbee a couple stints which led to being an assistant again under him. Antigua no good and Kellogg is just lucky he's in his home state working 20 miles from his home town or else he'd been given the door. Your teams can't play like Cal's without Top 100 talent as he's proven.

Antigua's problem wasn't his tutelage under Cal, it was the principles he tried putting in place from his days with the Globetrotters. How many technicals could the guy get before he realized you can't throw a bucket of confetti on the ref... and the other teams just didn't roll over for USF like the Generals.

Murray Bartow has his work cut out but coached one of the most exciting players to lace them up in Tim Smith when he was at East Tennessee State. That kid was an absolute blur who could really play in college. It seemed everytime his man turned his head for a split second he was stripped and it ended in a layup. He had to be one of the top players in steals I ever watched play.

Lots of Pitt alum wanted Antigua to replace Dixon.

Anyway, speaking of directional Florida schools, UCF is in a doozy of a game tonight with ECU. It's 39-30 with 3:29 left. Whoever took the under on this turkey should be feeling pretty good.

Nah, he's been playing in Europe for years.

He's still playing in Europe? Wow him and Clyde Vaughn were a tough frontline at the Mutual Classic years ago!
