What Wilson is now is irrelevant. Despite having the best coach on the planet she is 0-4 lifetime to UConn.
How is Wilson's development as of now irrelevant? Isn't the point being debated about whether South Carolina can develop bigs and why someone would transfer there?

Wilson's career and her accomplishments are more than relevant compared to a losing streak to UConn. Athletes who want to play in the WNBA will take what Wilson has done into consideration if South Carolina is an option.

I'm sure she's so heartbroken over this.

It's worth noting that South Carolina's won all of its national championships after 2016.

Thoughts on the bracket reveal:
1. Our team looked less than pleased with not being the #1 overall seed. Dawn herself said later that she thought they deserved it. This may work to our advantage in terms of motivation, but they can’t lose focus on winning one game at a time.
2. We’re set up pretty well in our bracket. We’ve already beaten several of the higher seeded teams in our bracket. Duke has been hot as of late, but we beat them convincingly.
3. Notre Dame can’t wait to get some revenge against TCU.
4. LSU will give everyone trouble if their two stars are healthy.
5. Tennessee may be the surprise 5th seed… they could upset Texas.
6. If all works out and our team reaches the Final Four (and the other #1 seeds do, too), I like our chances to beat Texas for a third time. And I think UCLA whips SoCal. That would have us and UCLA in a rematch for the natty, and a chance to make up for our defeat against them earlier in the year.
7. Looking for our “fams” to show up in Birmingham.
As usual, YMMV.

The looked less than pleases? Shouldda taken care of business in LA

A bunch of hubbub being made over the overall #1 seed on twitter.
IMO, this part of the season is more about matchups and the committee gave SC a nice path to the Final Four. I like our bracket more than UCLA’s. Keep winning.

I agree--I see few, if any, deterrents to the Final Four.

On the other hand: UCLA does not handle perimeter athleticism well, so of course they get put in the same bracket as Florida State, LSU, Georgia Tech, and especially NC State. Lauren Betts is good enough to get them out of that bracket, but they'll take a lump or two along the way.

Agreed… but it’s not like UCLA is undefeated. They lost twice to SoCal. And yes, we got absolutely boat-raced by UConn; but given our overall record against ranked teams and our strength of schedule, plus our performance in the SEC tournament, I think we earned the #1 overall seed. So I concur with Dawn.

No, UCLA is not undefeated but they do have the best record of any major team. They have only two loses. The rest of us have at least three. Both of their losses were against a one seed. Our SOS is better but theirs is very good at number six.. 1 just don’t think our sos overcomes better record and our head to head 20 point loss.

It’s always a challenge to realistically evaluate your own team, something I frequently struggle with. I commend you on your balanced assessment of SC.

From my perspective, despite UConn’s surprising victory over SC a few weeks back, I am more than happy to avoid the Gamecocks until a potential rematch in the national championship game at the soonest.

I'm perfectly happy to see HS players pick their school based on how the schools grads do as pros. I think UConn can match WNBA stars with any school.

It wasn't her I was talking to. It was a poster. And I was reminding them that contrary to what they were saying Staley was unable to beat UConn with the "best player in the world" for 4 years. Nothing more than that.

I'm 74. 2016 was last week to me.

Ancient history, or will be in another couple of years, just like 2013-2016. All that matters between SCar & UConn in 2025 is, 87-58. You think it was an aberration while I think it reflected reality.

I think if our losses to UCLA and UConn had been closer it might have gone the other way.

I tend to agree with Committtee.

But there are no right answers to this stuff.

And SCar got a very nice draw with all the things it could have wanted.

Not sure how I would have drawn it up different. But hope like hell team has a chip and doesn't think it's an easy draw.

We'll see. There's a lot of basketball left to be played.

I suppose 2024-25 UConn's losses to Southern Cal, ND, and Tennessee are "all that matters" as well and "clearly reflect reality".

I'd have preferred Utah to Indiana. Indiana is one of the few teams that has beaten SC in this run though I don't think any players are still around to remember it.

But last year's second half lull that almost let them make it a game may have given them a little confidence.

Don't expect a scare but just that little tourney anxiety you know?

1). From the South Carolina side, maybe Raven? I think that was during her freshman season when she was injured. Moore-McNeil does as she's using her COVID year.

2). Would you be a true March Madness fan otherwise? ;)

I'm living proof that March Madness anxiety can be legit. But, I have seven, almost eight, dollars saved up. I'd be willing to wager part of it that South Carolina will be just fine. ;)
