So? How do we get Chloe Kitts to play better? IMO- not currently playing at her level of competency.
Get her easy, confidence-boosting shots early on. Here's where Raven has to play better and use better discernment (or go with Maddy earlier).

Also, Chloe needs to take a page out of Joyce's and Te-Hina's books and make things happen.

If Chloe can't get playing time she may transfer out. Her sister plays at Florida (the family is from Florida also) and isn't she dating Colin Murry-Boyles? He will be a first-round draft pick and with no ties to South Carolina after that she may transfer out. I think she is a much better player than what she has shown this year. I think Dawn said she had some confidence issues early on that had to be addressed. She's a good player so she doesn't have to be thrust in a position she isn't comfortable with. I will be a Chloe fan regardless. She would be a great pickup for any team. This is where depth hurts. She is starting every game but not getting the minutes. It may not be enough to just be a starter with low minutes.

Why are we worried about Chloe’s PT against Charleston Southern and Wofford?

Coach has wanted to see all the other bigs get experience in those practice games. look at Chloe’s minutes against our Quade One and Two opponents.
Well, let's see how it progresses...Dawns words after the Duke game, "Chloe has said she wants us to believe in her, and I told her we do believe in her." That was an issue. I hope it was resolved but that could very well become an issue when trying to set up your WNBA draft status. It was an issue with Herbert-Harrington, and it worked out. This is a different time with the NIL and looking to improve your draft status. It's going to get worse.

I think come March, SC's best lineup is Watkins/Edwards/Johnson/Fulwiley/Pao Pao. This is largely dependent on Fulwiley's ability to play under control and make good decisions, but I think SC is most dangerous if they can find cohesion with these 5 (or sub Kitts for Edwards).

Some thoughts on last night’s game vs Mizzou:
1. Our depth overwhelmed the Tigers, with our athleticism on defense providing the separation. Typical Gamecock box score: 4-5 players in double figures for points, and just as many with between 5-9 points. We played ten, and all scored.
2. Kitts cannot physically handle low post play… but she probably can play a high post and shoot mid-range jumpers. Her confidence seems lacking, but not her effort.
3. Watkins is our dominant big… another double-double… and her coast-to-coast score was impressive.
4. While impressing so far as a true freshman, Edwards is still a work in progress… too many ticky-tack fouls and missed layups, but she’s gonna be a star… a more agile version of Boston.
5. Fulwiley had her best all around game of the year, highlighted by her definitive block.
6. Paopao is the steady hand on the tiller… leads by example.
7. We miss Maddie on point, but better she get healthy and be available for the tougher SEC matchups.
8. Loved seeing the bench cheer on Tac, who had a career high in points.
9. Easy to underestimate the contributions of Raven and Bree… both defend well, and both can hit a 3 if left open. Their experience in SEC and postseason play is a force multiplier.
10. The other conference games played last night were interesting… Texas came from behind to win, but Beers looked strong for the Sooners. Kentucky looked strong, as did Tennessee. Gonna be no mercy shown by anyone in the SEC this season.

Kentucky- Coach Brooks is not accustomed to the physicality of the SEC just yet. Therefore thst team is soft.

Tenn: new coach- not use to SEC ball yet physicality of other teams defense. Opening the floor up for the Opp. By pressing all the time. This us not s prince but a frog my friend

Tx & OK. Vic has only beaten Dawn twice. Oklahoma plays the same system as Arkansas.

Kenny Brooks used to complain about physicality in the ACC. He's in for a RUDE awakening in the SEC. I think Vanderbilt pulls the upset tomorrow--or at least I hope they do (they've got some talented pieces).

I'm interested in seeing what Tennessee brings during the meat of the SEC schedule. They are one of the biggest surprises of the season so far.

Oklahoma doesn't defend, so there's that. Also, Beers is a little too prone to foul trouble against good teams. Vic is Vic--not usually a problem for Dawn's teams.

Tennessee is still a relatively unknown quantity. I'm interested to see how Beers affects their system and if she will cause Tennessee to make more calculated substitutions / make Tennessee sacrifice speed for size.

I know one thing for sure, it'll be a high octane game as both teams like to play fast!

Thoughts on the Mississippi State game:
1. Very nice game by Kitts, and one that should help her confidence.
2. Feagin didn’t do much, which is problematic because of Watkins’s injury.
3. Really concerned about Watkins… when two staff members have to carry you off the court and you don’t return, even in a boot, it looks serious. Hope I’m wrong.
4. Tessa, Tehina, and Raven had strong games. Fulwiley, not so much… took some ill-advised 3 pointers, and seems only to want to make a potential highlight play on a drive to the hoop. Her defense has improved over last year. Her first half minutes were reduced, and I think all of her points came in the second half.
5. It was a Jekyll and Hyde game for Edwards. She seems more comfortable than our other bigs on offense in the low post, but then seems lost on defense in the low post. Still on a learning curve… glad she’s a Gamecock. If Watkins misses considerable time, Edwards will get more minutes.
6. Our next opponent, Texas A&M, beat a ranked Ole Miss team. Glad we’ll get them on our home court. Oklahoma barely beat Tennessee, after squandering a big lead.

YMMV

Watkin's Dad said she tweaked her knee and in the after-game interview CDS said that she was not brought to the hospital. All signs point towards a minor injury.

Clempsun’s big week with wins over Cal and Stanford makes them a Quad 1 at home. Wee now have a 6-1 Quad One record. Briefly.

Hopefully this is the case. I think she’s the most irreplaceable piece for South Carolina. I don’t see SC winning a 4th title if she isn’t in the lineup. There isn’t another post as athletic or imposing defensively.

I agree, though I think that Joyce Edwards could develop into an imposing defender by the NCAA tournament.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Ashlyn take some rest Thursday vs A&M and be fresh for Texas on Sunday. Tac could do with some extra minutes against her home state aggies but we’ll need Ashlyn against the Horns.

Hate to say it but Mr. Watkins is not a doctor..so i take his assessment with justified skepticism (even though he spoke with Ash)

Ouch. That hurts bad.

Time for Adhel to grow up FAST. Starting Sunday, five ranked teams in a row!

We’re solid with Chloe. Joyce backing her works well. Time for Feagin, Dauda and Tac too step it up at least on the boards.

A friend in Columbia just texted me the news… next woman up! We’ll see the extent of our team depth, but this will be tough.

If we usually played only 6-7 players per game, this would be a season-killer. We routinely play 10 per game… and not just for garbage time at the end of a blowout. If any team is built for this, we are.
