Wonder who's the coach that Voted Tenn #1. I could understand if a coach voted Duke #1 as they're loaded, but not Tenn. :)

Honest to god, I really wonder about the coach that voted for Tennessee for #1.

Maybe Rick Insell, his team plays TN in their opening, so he may be looking to inflate their position.

(FYI, not a serious guess, just idle speculation. The Smith guess seems more likely, although sad, if true. You'd like to think that the player who hit the greatest shot in NCAA history would have a little more sense.)

Six games against the top 9 teams. I wish ND was scheduled though.

Or maybe Geno asked the U of H coach to give the team an incentive?

The USA article about UConn: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...aches-poll-connecticut-preseason-no1/3288925/

Geno: ""We'll see if they are mature enough to deal with all the things that are going to be thrown at them. We, generally as a basketball program, don't put a lot of stock in what other people think or what other people say. ............................. And I don't think you get extra points for margin of victory."

Interesting - compare the schools in the poll with the schools of the voters. Not too much of a match. I guess there is a negative correlation between knowledge of the game and the ability to coach.

DII coaches' poll ranks Gannon University as preseason #2. Gannon will be UConn's opponent in Friday's exhibition game.

So we'll see Division by 2. As in, divide UConn's score by 2 to get Gannon's score. Or maybe by 3. :)

I think I'd move MD and ND up a little and Louisville and Tenn down.

Okay, so KF is gone. But what did that coach not understand about essentially the whole team being back that made the field look like 3rd graders in the NCAAs last year? BB is back, and if BS, KML, and SD - and arguably a healthy BH - aren't each the best in the country at their positions, none of us know anything. Throw in MJ, who will be a force even if she doesn't score a point, Tuck, KS and who know what SC will add, and it's stupid to pick any other team. Of course nothing is guaranteed, but pre-season, wow.

How disappointing. You almost referred to every player by their initials and you had to ruin it by referring to MT as Tuck.

Tsk tsk tsk.
