LOL nice comeback. Seriously why are you always pissing on Melo or the Knicks in general? Aren't you a Knick fan?

I am a Knicks fan who hates the Knicks. I like individual Knicks - Tyson Chandler, for example - but I hate the way the Knicks have pissed away the past decade and I hate the way we're set to piss away the next decade.

The script is already written....Amare will be injured more often than not over the next few years and Carmelo will eventually decide that he is unhappy and wants out.

This will all end poorly and we're going to watch other teams build and rebuild and built and rebuild during the time that we'll do nothing but decline. Again.

I hate it.

Precisely. Well-said.

I love Chandler even more because I feel bad for the guy to be stuck with the franchise.

I hate the way the U.S. chucked up 40 threes a game during the tournament, and I hate the way the ten foot olympic three point line made it possible. It takes away from the purity of the game - I don't wan to see the best athletes in the world heaving up threes at every turn like they're a mid-major trying to beat a two-seed int he NCAA Tournament. I don't blame the U.S. for taking advantage of the shortened line, but it makes the game less interesting.

Also, it's almost unfathomable how bad the U.S. was defensively during these Olympics. Is it possible to strip Tyson Chandler of his 2011-12 DPOY award? It was almost mind-boggling to see some of these countries toss out rosters that couldn't beat your YMCA rec team only to watch them completely fluster the U.S. defense consisting of three to four All-defensive players.

So you don't like Shumpert either? Have you been paying attention this summer? STAT has been working with Hakeem and looks a lot more nimble and lighter than he did a year ago. We signed a slew of veterans including Garden favorites K.Thomas and Camby to help with rebounding and overall bench presence. We signed Brewer as a stop gap between the start of the season until Shump is ready to go again. Not to mention resigning Novak and Smith, Kidd an NBA Champion a year ago and our third string PG was a starter for an Olympic team. We're also in KMart's last two between us and the Lakers. Personally, I would rather Lou Amundson from Indiana but it looks like he wants more money than we can offer him.

I think all the players love playing for Woodson a solid coach who got better each season in Atlanta, and there is at least some glimmer of hope.

Dude, they won the gold medal. The international game is much better than you give it credit for. Half the rosters on some of these teams are NBA'ers, for crying out loud. Spain was a great team, and outside of Chandler, there was no one in the middle for team USA. Spain was better inside.

why do you guys resort to the most hyperbolic statements to try to make a point?

I think champs99and04 was one of the posters who thought that Team USA 2012 was better than the Dream Team. A local YMCA club would have been destroyed by Nigeria. Anywho, I greatly enjoyed this competitive game, that resulted in us bringing home the gold.

This Spain team knows how to get under Team USA's skin a bit. Ruy Fernandez seemed to be the most annoying of them all. I haven't been a fan of how Lebron has carried himself in the past, but this past year has gone a long way towards making me forget about all of that.

This wasn't intended to be a U.S.A. bashing post, even if it came off that way. I appreciate the contributions of everybody on that roster, and I think they represented U.S.A. basketball extremely well. Watching guys like Melo, Kobe, LeBron, CP3, Durant, etc. on the same court, moving the ball, was breathtaking at times.

I was simply pointing out some quirks in the International game that I do not agree with, most notably the shortened three point line. I happen to think many players in today's game, especially in a setting like this, are too three point centered, which as a result, takes away from the other parts of the game I love.

In regards to my comments on the U.S.A.'s defense, I stand by them. I understand that many of these other countries have good players, I was simply surprised that lineups consisting of guys like LeBron, Chandler, Iguodala and Chris Paul couldn't better hold down the fort defensively. It wasn't just the big boys that were hurting this team defensively, either. Teams like Australia and Lithuania hung 60 points on the board against this team in the first half, or close to it.

I thought it was pretty clear that I was exaggerating. I don't doubt the fact that many of these teams have some extremely good players, I was just somewhat taken aback by the way players like Patty Mills were able to have their way with this U.S. team.

No, I did not say the 2012 team was better than the Dream Team. I said the 2012 team could beat the Dream Team on any given day, much like the 2012 team could have lost t one of the smaller countries on any given day. Anything can happen within a 40 minute game, with a short three point line, and some of the best players of all-time. The Dream Team was undoubtedly the best U.S. team ever, but I thought it was ignorant to quickly dismiss some of the greatness that was evident on this team, as well.

And again, I thought I made it pretty clear that I was exaggerating with my YMCA comments.

I'm not the biggest Carmelo fan, but I think his game translates nicely to this format. I saw a guy who actually took an interest in rebounding on the defensive end and obviously is a huge weapon offensively with the shorter 3 point line.

My favorite part of this tournament was getting to see Kevin Love play. The guy is an absolute maniac. He has zero athleticism whatsoever and yet he gets his hands on seemingly every available rebound.

I think it was pretty clear from the outset that this US team had no interest or intention of playing all that much defense. they figured when push came to shove that they would be able to outscore anyone. Luckily, they were right. But come on, a spanish team that was averaging something like 60 points a game scored 100...they played dfense like it was an NBA all star game.

I've been paying attention since '92. Fishy's right. Something bad will happen or nothing will happen and we'll still be bad. Don't get too excited about two 40 year old dudes. I really just don't think Melo and Amare can play together and Amare is just too injury prone. I loved Felton with Amare a few years back, but again, Amare is gonna have injury issues and he can't play with Melo. Plus been reading about Felton in Portland, sounds like he was about to run out of town. I love Shump, but he's our ONLY young player. That's it. We got rid of the other young guy... I'm sure Dolan will work out a way to trade Shump at some point as well.

I've been a fan since 92 and I think Fishy is focussing on all the negatives.

Those 40 year old players will be fine, they will be backups.

STAT and Melo will be fine. STAT has been working with Hakeem on his post moves this summer and has been looking loose. He will also be playing with a major chip on his shoulder after a disappointing season. As in the Olympics Melo has shown that he will pass the ball to the open man so there is no reason why two All Stars can't figure it out with their first full camp and preseason together.

STAT's injury bug is a legit concern, however, he wasn't healthy or in shape because of his back surgery a year ago.

Felton will be ok. We don't need him to put up all star numbers, just run the offense through our best players and hit the open shot when called upon.

Shump is my favorite Knick so I'm bummed about his injury because I question if he will ever regain his explosiveness in the future.

Brewer is an excellent perimeter defender so he and Tyson will set a defensive tone in the first unit.

We already know what we're getting with Tyson. The difference between this year and last year is that Tyson can now play defense more aggressively because Camby is an excellent back up. Miami wanted Camby to be a starter for them this upcoming season so this is great for us.

JR Smith and Novak compliment each other well and will be back in Woodson's system. JR Smith I believe holds a 3 point record from a few years ago, I think it was the highest 3 point percentage in a season. Novak had the highest 3 point percentage this past season.

Kidd, Camby, Thomas and Prigioni will bring a winning, calm locker room presence which every team needs. Personally I'm glad that Thomas and Camby are back from that 1999 run to the finals. If anything its nostalgic.

We're going to be fine. We have a head coach who improved every year while in Atlanta with less talent that he currently has. He stresses defense and holds players accountable. After going 18-6 to end the season, I can't see why some Knick fans can't look past Dolan and look forward to a promising season. He isn't going anywhere. To piss and moan and hate the franchise because of him is well, their prerogative I guess.

Melo was deferential in the playoffs only because he knows he's not as good as Durant or LeBron. I just don't see him doing that with Amare. And we can win with iso-ball, it's just we suffer a lot if Melo's off. Yeah, Felton will be fine, he'll be serviceable, still really angry about the Lin thing, but I guess I have to get over it. Tyson is great, you know what you're getting with him as you say, no drama and just a great team player. Camby is a good pick up, still one of the best rebounders in the game, but hasn't played a full season since, god knows when. Not sure where Kurt Thomas is going to come in. JR's good for energy, but happy Brewer gets the start over him - just think JR is sort of an unpredictable idiot. Brewer is a lock-down defender -- probably better than Shump at this point in his career. This year is Melo's year though. He's gotta step up. Look, it's hard to look past Dolan. You just don't know what's he's going to do, but you can be sure it's generally the wrong decision. But you're also right, let's look on the bright side.
