I luv this time of the season March Madness. Wow what a day. The selection committee has its work cut out for them. Do these upsets have any bearing on the seedings? Loosing to unranked teams early in conference tournaments should have some bearing. How many spots does each team drop and does LVille become a 2 seed and where? Who becomes a 1 seed to replace Lville and would it be Baylor if they win their conference tourney? Michigan LSU Maryland are huge early upsets.
It is said that NET, whos hot and whos not, injuries, and losing games late in the season are all factors in seeding. Well UConn should be in good shape for placement in Bridgeport. Ive always believed that because having UConn in CT brings in big money for the NCAA.
There are a few teams that are playing really well right now and some teams not playing very well. UConn has 5 losses and has been missing 2-3 key players in most of those losses. Now look at other teams who have lost a key player and see how many games theyve lost. Dont forget and Eric in LA reminded me of it last nite on our phone call. We were in the game with SC and lost it however Azzi and Nika were hurt and Caroline didnt see much action. Gotta wonder if those 3 were playing the way theyre playing now how that game wouldve turned out. Hey you cant go back and you can only wonder about "ifs".
Im looking forward to the teams that upset higher ranked teams yesterday and see what they do today.
To win a NC you need good guards and we have some of the best. You need height and we have alot of that too which makes it easy to substitute without loosing much. The injures and covid may have worked in our favor this season when you look at where we are as team and where we were as a team. We have dramatically improved at every position. We dont depend on one player to carry us although we have players that can do that. I am so excited about the rest of the season.
We have the guards and we have the defense and with the upsets so far the Door is Open for UConn to move up in the seedings. Its gonna be up to them.
