Updated 2024 Spring Roster

Some changes on the coaching staff, some known - some not.

Kenny McClendon listed as Assistant Head Coach/DL

Doug Shearer still STC/RC/ adds SAM... Linebacker help? Seems odd but idk.

Guessing all the PGC and RGC are added money.

You obviously lost brain cells in your days in the dorms FKA the Jungle. We have been spoiled at the kicking game for a long time. It’s needed.
Um. What about 5th down made you think i was serious? Plus I went to Avery Point. My board name should make that pretty clear.

Now think about what you've done and how you can avoid embarrassing situations like this in the future.

I know it's been reported that Sammis will take over as OC, but you gotta wonder if that's just short term. Nothing's official. When you look the updated staff, if he is our OC moving forward it should've been stated. It's not. So, maybe, we're still working to hire someone officially?

Good catch. Maybe that is it.

There has only been limited coverage about Sammis appointed OC at UConn. That is one reason I still
am not sure it is true.

Sammis- Assistant Coach - Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line

Noticed that too on the current coaching staff posted above by CCSUblue....so do you mean there's still hope to bring in a messiah to lead/improve Uconn's afterthought of a downfield passing game ?....;)

... or maybe they are waiting till they fill the QB Coach/Pass Game Coordinator position this week and cover it under one update?

They currently have Dalton Hilliard listed as Assistant Coach - Pass Game Coordinator/Secondary and Siriki Diabate listed as Assistant Coach - Run Game Coordinator/Linebackers (unless it's from a defensive capacity but not sure I've seen that before?)

They've never been strong w/ web updates/accuracy.

I wonder if the PGC/RGC titles are to get them more money?

True, that's the only way those designations made sense, but as you mentioned with their web updates over the years, SMH!

LOL. What CCSU said….

Lighten up, snowflake. Google “Jungle/North Campus/Counties“ or something similar for a little history.

My god people... apparently my humor is a tad to dry for these boards

Good point

Or am I being sarcastic?

has there been a spring ball Mora press conference yet?

He really needs to talk about the offense…coaches and strategy.

Does he though?
if he wants to be a good leader who explains the direction of the program to the fans who are left. The team appears to have made a significant change on the offensive side of the ball…it seems to make sense that the leader of the team would help the fans understand the impact of the change..

you don’t agree?

Charlton did a whole lot of talking about his offense. How'd that work out? Like Geno said "Just shut up and win"

i actually don’t remember Charlton doing a ”whole lot of talking” about his offense. i do remember Mora complaining a whole lot about the offense. i also don’t remember Geno shutting up a lot.

One thing I should point out. I'm assuming the 2023 weights were at the beginning of the season. Thus, a player like Diomonde could have gained that weight over 7 or 8 months. Also, Brown was listed as losing 10 lbs to 221 lbs. On the UMass 2 deep at the end of the season, he was listed at 223 lbs, not the 231 lbs. on the roster. Like I said, take the weights with a grain of salt.

Too much salt leads to water retention.

There are some trends that can't be dismissed. There had to be intentional goals set by the coaches.

All the QB's are lighter. McDonald losing weight to drop to 197 lbs seems like an odd trend. But the other two QB's also both lost weight.

OLine weight were down for Tunde, Jeurrgens and Raymer. All of them are now less than 300 lbs.

Four out of five DB's put on weight.

Four out of five DLine put on weight but McCarthy drops 25 lbs down to 250.

Sure would be nice if there was any press coverage or interviews with the staff getting insight for why the weights shifted as much as they did for different position groups.

Seriously!!! That’s a lot of weight to add.
Since he redshirted last year, you gotta believe he's been working in the weight room, along with developing (again, a TRUE frosh here)... maybe (just maybe) we never truly updated his physical attributes the whole time... I can see him up in weight... here's where you think growth spurt may be in play here...

Looks like the Portal doors open tomorrow. Perhaps we will see some of the rumored new names land here over the coming days.

When Does the Spring Transfer Portal Open?

The spring transfer portal will officially open for underclassmen on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, and close on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. This means players have just 15 days to enter. For graduate transfers, the window is extended to May 1, 2024.

Players who wish to enter the spring transfer portal must inform their school’s compliance office, which then has two days to register the request. Players who enter will then be filed onto the transfer portal database for other schools to see and contact.

Once their names are in the portal, they can complete their transfer at any time. A player only needs to enter the portal during those dates. However, for the benefit of the team and the player, a swift conclusion is often met to allow acclimation before the season starts.

It is the final time before the college football season begins that all players are eligible to enter the portal, and the timing is important.
