I think that will be an excellent hire if it happens, particularly because of McGuff's Ohio background while at Xavier, and also his nearby recruiting while at Notre Dame as an assistant. But I thought he was on the list of those who told OSU to pound salt?
At this point, it might be easier to have a list of coaches who *havent* turned them down.
Am I the only one who dislikes McGuff doing this? He left a job where he was finally getting blue chip recruits in, and turning the program around...and he leaves it for hot mess Ohio State?![]()
On the other hand recruiting had fallen apart the last two seasons. They were winning 30 games a year just 3 years ago. With the number of bluechip recruits in the state of Ohio on an annual basis, he should have no problems getting them in the top-10 regularly. With Ohio State's facilities, resources, recruiting base and (until recently) decent support, there's certainly nothing stopping him from turning that place into a perennial power. He's also an Ohio guy. So it's a meaningful job to him.

Might be your opinion but that isn't how it is in the NCAA and that's the opinion that counts in regards to NLIs.Yes, but what about the recruits that came to play for him at Washington? He left high and dry. They should be able to get out of their NLI imo.
Remember OSU thought throwing a blank check at Geno would be sufficient.

It is. But it is the way of the college sports world. Sadly.I know that. But it's still crappy if those recruits want to go elsewhere and have to sit out a year.
