How come UConn, the AP number 1 in the nation, only gets that little speck of blue? Big deal they throw in Rhode Island and Cape Cod.Courtesy of Reddit, a map of the closest remaining undefeated team to each US county, as of 12/1:

The guy updates the map several times a week at the women's college basketball subreddit, r/NCAAW.
And satellites can track where your car is within 30 ft. from space. You know, I'm 91, fought in Korea, and and con-alt-del, cap loc, undo, num loc, print screen, refresh, airplane mode...etc, etc. is foreign to me.
I almost bought a color TV last week, my son said, don't it's only a fad. I wished my rabbit ears worked better.
I cannot load any app on my landline. Don't know why.
I walk into McDonald's, order my senior coffee, wait 2 minutes. MEANWHILE, folks walk in and pick up pre-made orders. What's an APP?
She was quite the rebounder at Arkansas and I think she actually led the SEC at some point while she was there.Very happy for former UConn player Saylor Poffenbarger, who hit the winning shot for Maryland - a tough layup with about 10 seconds left - in the double OT win over Minnesota, giving her 30 points for the game.
Maryland was down 5 with 19 seconds to go in the first overtime, and by 9 with 44 seconds to go in the second overtime. Incredible.

MD has Mir McLean too. Same class, right? That was an interesting freshman class at UConn. Seems like Saylor just wanted to park in the corner and shoot 3's at UConn. Kusos to her for becoming an all-round player. I always rooted for Mir. Did Geno see Gabby in her? 5'11 posts are tough at UConn. He never seemed to want her at the high post like Gabby. That player has to be able to hit that shot. (easiest shot in basketball? basically a free throw or an elbow jumper. I bet Azzi routinely hits a hundred in a row from there.)She might earn the 5th spot on the all-transfer team

Correction, during Covid, Saylor enrolled early (like Olivia Miles did at ND) so she came in Jan 2021 and her first game was 1/31. She did get minimal minutes in the spring semester games. In the early fall, our first game was against Arkansas and Saylor did not get in the game. Both her and Mir McLean elected to transfer after the fall semester ended. Mir to UVA and Saylor to Arkansas. Both sat out the 2021-2022 season per the rules at that time. Mir had some injuries and is in her 6th year (graduated HS in 2026 with Paige). Saylor was HS class of 2021 with Azzi and Caroline. Both players transferred to MD at the beginning of last year.Poffenbarger was a member of UConn’s recruiting class in 2020-21 along with Paige, Nika, Aaliyah, etc. She played mop up minutes in 12 games before transferring to Arkansas. She is currently in her 6th season of college basketball, now with MD.
I think I just threw up a little bit seeing Sparky plastered all over the Northwest. That just ain't right. Those who want to see the progression of the maps I posted can look here. This guy is the originator of them: https://www.reddit.com/user/neptunetheemystic/submitted/
The new map is interesting, particularly Alaska. It seems odd that Alaska would be that way when you think of a flat map projection, but of course it makes a lot more sense on a globe.

I was really high on Saylor, but alas it sorta all went to...well it didn't go well. I thought at the time it was a terrible decision to activate her late in the year.MD has Mir McLean too. Didn’t she report to UConn late in her senior year of HS?I was really high on Saylor, but alas it sorta all went to...well it didn't go well. I thought at the time it was a terrible decision to activate her late in the year.
As I remember it, she graduated HS early and matriculated at UConn in January.Didn’t she report to UConn late in her senior year of HS?
See post 99. Anyone who enrolled early got the extra year. We were hoping for Azzi to come but…As I remember it, she graduated HS early and matriculated at UConn in January.
Iowa also has UConn on 12/20 if they get past Iowa State. So in looking at the schedules, here are the potential prat falls for each
ASU has TCU on 1/11 until then, feasting on mid majors
Texas Tech has Baylor on 12/21
Iowa State has Iowa on Wed and then Baylor on 1/4
TCU has WVU on 1/14 and the Ohio State on 1/19 and then Baylor on 2/12. This is the team with potential to stay undefeated
Maryland has tOSU on 1/11 and then California trip with USC and UCLA on 1/15 and 1/18
Iowa has ISU Wednesday, Neb on 1/1, Mich State on 1/18 and Maryland on 1/22
Neb has USC on 12/29. Iowa on 1/1 and UCLA on 1/11
Texas is at LSU on 1/11 and at SC 1/15
Alabama has SC 1/1
Georgia has Ole Miss 1/1 and LSU 1/8
LSU has Kentucky 1/1, Texas on 1/11 and Oklahoma on 1/18
Vandy has LSU on 1/4.
To me, one possible (TCU) and two plausible threats for undefeated seasons (Texas/LSU). I don't think any will do but given the lack of real competition in the Big 12, TCU has a chance.
Didn't she also have hip surgery right before she joined UCONN?As I remember it, she graduated HS early and matriculated at UConn in January.
Visualizing the new version of the BIG10 network's ad promoting all the schools. Gives "from sea to shining sea" a new meaning. 😉Based upon our victories over Ohio
State and Michigan, it is considered that the map needs to updated to include our original rights of ownership of the western reserve and extension of this territory along the coast of Lake Erie through Northern Ohio and Eastern Michigan to Ann Arbor, and south to Columbus. Returning ownership of this property to its rightful owners should include immediate acceptance of UConn into the B1G. Maryland should be exiled from our backyard.
Thanks, and thanks for enlightening me about the numbers. A mystery 'til just now. As a luddite I eschew all modern complications! 🤣 Signing in stretches my limit.See post 99. Anyone who enrolled early got the extra year. We were hoping for Azzi to come but…
She torn the labrum of her left hip as a HS freshman and the labrum of her right as a HS senior. Trivia: Mir McLean and Saylor both transferred into Maryland this year, making it 3 Us for both of them. They have been besties for years and this article reveals Mir "supported" Saylor through the act of leaving UConn.Didn't she also have hip surgery right before she joined UCONN?

I think you're right @cancontent . I'm still living in 2024. It's my solution for longevity.Wasn't it last season when they joined Maryland along with DeBerry?

(Saylor Poffenbarger) Yes, Saylor had surgery on her hip labrum after her junior season of high school. (This was her second labrum repair, she had the other one done after her freshman season.) She played most of her junior season knowing she needed surgery, and still won Maryland high-school player of the year. Maryland canceled all summer basketball, so IIRC she commuted (or maybe moved for the summer) to somewhere in Northern Virginia and basically coached a summer team. Then Maryland canceled the high school season for her senior year, which is part of the reason that she enrolled early. She hadn't been able to play for the better part of a year by then, so her rust was totally understandable.Didn't she also have hip surgery right before she joined UCONN?
Cheaper than some of the approaches I've seen people take. Works for me. 👍I think you're right @cancontent . I'm still living in 2024. It's my solution for longevity.
We had some bad negotiating.I think the map would look better if we included Connecticut's western reserves from Colonial days!
Just think about the possibilities if we still had Ohio! We could then proudly call ourselves THE University of Connecticut. We had some bad negotiating.
