Down 8-1, pitcher walks Ferrer, hits Crawford and Winkel swings at the first pitch and flies out. 5+ ERA and we make life easy for him. Too often the story.
 
Coe walks the first two batters, then gets two out with a runner at third (actually, Pat Winkel threw out a base stealer for one out). With a string of lefty hitters gone, the lefty Coe comes out of the game, Bobby McBride takes the mound. He gives up a walk, then a fly out ends the inning. 8-1 Xavier.

Bottom 7th, Sam Favieri starts the inning on the mound. Gives up back to back 2 out doubles to make the score 9-2. With some lefty hitters coming up, the left handed O'Donnell comes out of the bullpen to try for the final out of the inning. Gets a ground out to end the inning.

Top 8th, Crawford rbi double, Pat Winkel sac fly make the score 9-4. Stock with an rbi double makes it 9-5 with one out and two runners on base for the Huskies. An infield error allows two more runs to score to make it 9-7 with one out and a runner at 1st. Another late UConn rally, and a pitching change.
 
Langer comes up with another walk, Bushling follows with an rbi single to make it 9-8 with 1 out and runners on the corners. Korey Morton pinch running for Langer. Kyler Fedko walks to load the bases. Wild pitch ties the game at 9!!
 
Bottom 8th, we're back to the bullpen core. Randy Polonia takes the mound to start the inning.

Korey Morton moves to left field, Stock moves to third base. Andy Hague picked up an injury during Friday practice and may not be available.
 
Trouble in river city. A lead off walk followed by a double puts two runners on base with no out. Marrero coming in to pitch.
 
Fielders choice, Stock tries for the play at the plate, but runner is safe. Runners at the corners and no out. 11-10 UConn. With one out after a Marrero strikeout, a Stock error at 3B ties the game at 11. If Hague wasn't injured, probably a good chance the Huskies would be out of this inning with the lead.

The bigger problem is, someone has to play 3B after Langer was removed for the pinch runner. Stock is billed as a utility player, but I'm not sure he has played the infield at UConn before this game in his two seasons at Storrs. Come to think of it, Stock has made at least one appearance at 1B for UConn.
 
Bottom 9th, Marrero strikes out the first batter. With the lefty string of hitters at the top of the Xavier order, Wurster is coming in to pitch. Wurster with 2 strikeouts, so it's time for extra innings.

By the way, we're back to 4 hour 9 inning games with this one, and that is before extras. Oh boy.

Big East is using the runner at 2B in extra innings. To say I am not a fan of that rule is an understatement.

Top 10th, Bushling double brings in a run, 1 out. 12-11 UConn going to the bottom of the 10th.
