Top 2nd, Ferrer with a 1 out double, but is stranded there. 2-0 Xavier.

Bottom 3rd, Casparius sharpening up, strikes out the side. Casparius is at 51 pitches.
 
Top 4th, nothing results from a 2 out UConn rally. Ferrer now has two hits on the day. 2-0 Xavier.
 
Bottom 4th, Casparius with a scoreless inning. He now has 6 strikeouts. 2-0 Xavier.
 
Top 5th, UConn offense stays quiet after a lead off Langer single. Langer and Ferrer both have 2 hits on the game so far.
 
Bottom 5th, Casparius loads up the bases with two walks (one of them an intentional walk) and a hit by pitch. Another hit by pitch brings in a run to make it 3-0 with two out before a fly out ends the inning. Casparius at 94 pitches. Polonia started warming up towards the end of that inning.

Looked like he intentionally swung the front elbow out on the first HBP...
 
Top 6th, scoreless inning for UConn after Ferrer reaches on a 2 out hit by pitch, but is thrown out out at the plate on a Stock double.
 
Bottom 6th, a lead off homer for Xavier off of Casparius makes it 4-0.
 
Surprise, Surprise, Ferrer getting thrown out at the plate. Great hitter, not the quickest however.
 
Bottom 6th, the homer is followed by a single, and that brings Casparius and his time on the mound to an end today. Polonia in to pitch.
 
Gotta love covid. We were playing great and now it's like we are starting all over again. Rust of a 2 week layoff is really showing.
 
Bottom 6th, another run scores on a UConn infield error to make it 5-0.

Rust has definitely been there today. Offensively, it also doesn't help when you are facing one of the best starting pitchers in the Big East. Complete game shut out in the first game.
