The UConn baseball team (16-12, 2-0 BIG EAST) returns from a 14-day pause to play its first BIG EAST road series of the season against the Xavier Musketeers at Hayden Field.

The series marks the first between the two programs with the only previous meeting coming in 2012 in Charleston, S.C. with the Huskies winning 7-2 behind a stellar start from UConn starter Brian Ward.

The Musketeers were picked fifth in the preseason BIG EAST poll and the Musketeers currently sit in third place with a 5-2 conference record after winning a road series at St. John's (2-1) and home series vs. Butler (3-1).

Overall, Xavier is 14-15 with a road series win at Texas A&M to open the 2021 season. The Musketeers have won eight of its last 10 games. <-

Nothing hard hit, but Xavier has traffic on the bases in the bottom of the 1st. Xavier with a 1-0 lead with 2 runners on and 1 out.

Double brings in another run to make it 2-0 with one out. Casparius gets the next two batters, 2-0 going to the top of the 2nd.
