Nice win for UConn against a top team away. Great win and totally unexpected. . Pulled me out of my doldrums after disappointing loss by Men's team yesterday. Shade, Strong, Paige and especially Azzi looked great. I will miss Azzi's smile and selfless attitude once she departs UConn.

13 3 pointers to 3. Out rebounded them by close to 20. Played unbelievable team defense. Was nice to see a peak performance in such a high expectation game.

Huge team win!

Post note - game was really over when Jana crossed up that South Carolina player in Q1.

The biggest takeaway for me in this game was balance, scoring, REBOUNDING and assisting.
The even bigger take away is that our opposition did not shoot incredibly well from the three-point range. Which seems to always be our Achilles heel in these big games.
GREAT REBOUNDING EFFORT.

Fudd's quick release on her threes is a thing a beauty. Once she starts making those, her defender rushes at her and she can go right by.
Strong on the glass really is a difference maker.
Shade causing havoc all over the court.
Just a great win that will wake up the rest of WCBB.

WOW! WOW! What a game. Statistically we won EVERY category in this game. Uconn was superb! AZZI was a beast. SARAH and PAIGE had double=doublrs. ASHLYNN came off the bench and lit it up with 3 3pointers in a row. Looks like we are back into our NCAA playing mode. Everyone with meaningful minutes scored. A real team effort. GO HUSKIES!!!!

What a collective effort. Obviously, Azzi went off in the third, but with Jana's aggressive play in the first (how bout that cross-over), Ash's fuel-injected treys & Sarah's rebounding combined with her overall cool, UConn was as dialed in as any game this season. SC never knew what hit them. They took the home crowd out of the game, and by the late 3rd quarter, instead of 18,000 screaming fans, it sounded eerily quiet.

This portends well going forward.

What a game!

The Huskies played a great game, especially defensively in the first half, and put Azzi in her comfort zone so she could shoot well in the second half.

Plaudits to Sarah, Jana, Kaitlyn, Ashlynn and KK for their fine games, and to Paige for her rebounds and assists.

The ability to knock down shots was always there. The confidence to take them is the key. They came out with confidence. But just as important, the defense was excellent. The rebounding and limiting SC second chance points are as valuable as a made FG. Good job. Build on it. Job is not done.

In the "Just Thinking" thread earlier in the week I got some "Wow" emoji reactions to my post.

As predicted, SC came out over confident their Coach and Team with their normal "swagger.". UCONN punched them in the mouth early and SC never recovered. Dawn got her traditional scowl on her face, she yelled at the team and the refs. The only thing I predicted that didn't happen was Dawn getting a Tech or two...instead she "gave up and sat" on the bench waiting for the pain to end.

SIGNATURE WIN??? I don't know...is a win over SC going to look good in the eyes of the committee??? The fact that SC won 70 straight at home had to be worth at least a look from the committee.

GO UCONN!!!!

Azzi Fudd came out aggressive, played a top tier overall floor game and showed up in the biggest game of the season. She wasn't available for USC or Notre Dame and proved that in her top form - she is a formidable talent. The 3's, the passing, the spacing, she's a generational talent herself and glad she reminded everyone. The recipe for success moving forward is to treat Fudd as the primary along with Bueckers and Strong.

Ashlynn Shade was a singular force and magical today. KK's defense was on another level. El Alfy saved her best play for today. I've never seen this version of her, but if this is any indication of what's to come, keep it up baby girl. Strong won her match-up and though she looked nervous, she played really well. Bueckers played well despite some very uncharacteristic turnovers.

UConn walked into Colonial life on a mission and made sure Dawn Staley frowned all night. Geno coached the game of the year and made sure Pao Pao was never a factor as she has been, he's still the best in the business.
