You know that's a great observation - the bend but don't break (I lied) defense only works if the offense put points on the board. It doesn't produce points like a good pressure defense.

Can't agree with this.

The whole point is to create turnovers by making the offense execute flawlessly. Eventually the turnovers come.

I bet you that bend-but-don't-break Ds produce as many--if not more--turnovers than aggressive Ds.

Gotta look on the bright side ... ECU beat NC ST, Cincinnati beat Purdue, and SMU is beating Baylor.

Bob's schemes being obliterated every play on both sides of the ball. He looks like a JV high school coach.

There's no point in torturing myself by watching this debacle. We can't stop this offense and we have no OLine.

.-.
The worst part is knowing this early that your season is as good as over. Another whole year of talk and optimism dashed.....Is it too much to ask for us to have a football team that could compete in the MAC? Is it my damn fault for expecting more/better than abysmal.

LOL, I love that play.

That was more of a facemask than the first against UConn.
I hate that play design but these coahces love it. Evveryone blocks down, but if a team blitzes from that side your effed.

.-.
What is up with people and their love affair with the chat room? Does it cost more money to have a game thread? The chat is awful because you can't go back to reference it.
Why would you ever need to reference it? Are you writing a paper on a football team that has no arm in its offense and an inability to stop other teams on defense?

Wrapping up and tackling is 100% about heart and want. We have neither right now.

Obi is a joke, again. Sit his sorry arse already. Jeez.

You're backed up.

It's not a dumb play. Pro coaches call that all the time there.

What is really dumb--beyond dumb--is the play call that preceded it--because it has NEVER worked for UConn.

Because Shireffs doesn't sell play action at all and defenses know they can bite on the play action and still not be punished with a downfield pass completion. UConn's coaches don't have any idea how to prevent a defense from pinning its ears back and playing downfield every time.

.-.
Two years of being relentlessly sold optimism, just to see this by Year 3. Utterly pathetic.

UConn's offense looks like it's trapped in a snow globe. It seems like the field extends maybe 8-10 yards in every direction. (Except backward - that's more like 20 yards.)

Meanwhile, Navy is a cut away from a TD on nearly every play.

It seems as if the Defense has given up more big plays in the first two games than all of last year. I thought that the philosophy was to bend but not break and to not let anyone get behind you downfield. We'll give you the nickel and dime stuff but you will not beat us over the top. So far, it looks as if we're incapable of stopping anything.

If they get a B12 invite might give him a couple more years to see if he can improve recruiting.

The current product is awful, I personally can't stand Shierffs and he's not one of the top 3 problems I know

So when I say this could be the final year of the Diaco regime if he doesn't turn it quickly is that still a crazy thought?

.-.
This is ridiculously bad. We can't do a single thing right.

Keep polishing that turd, Bob. Peace & love.

People want to go back and see if you were mean to the coach or players

Did you ever see LT, The Steel Curtain or Bears 86 play?
