UConn vs Michigan (Championship)

Anyone else feeling oddly relaxed? I’m actually getting a ton of work done at the office today. Feels like we’ve got nothing to lose: six championships already in the bag, a coach who’s here to stay, and expectations firmly against us. If anything, it’s all upside and a win would elevate both the coach and the program to an entirely different level.

We're playing with house money - not many people expected us to get this far considering how sluggish we were at times in conference play, and the way St John's hammered us at MSG.

The NCAA tourney is a different animal for UConn.

Sure, but Cadeau wasn't deliberately missing the shots. The message to Cadeau was "shoot the ball (with the intention of making the shot) off the PnR going downhill. If you miss don't worry, our guys will be in good position to get the offensive rebound, but make sure you shoot. Don't turn down the shot."

Bingo. It goes to what I wrote above in bold.
But it is wrong: "Dusty May confirmed that
Elliot Cadeau intentionally passed the ball off the backboard in the 2026 Final Four win over Arizona"

It was reported on Sports Center that Yaxel was at shoot around without knee brace.

Also Jay Williams picks UConn.

They have been on fire from 3 in this tournament. We need to shut that down. If they hit 10+ 3s against us at an efficient clip, we’re going to have to have one helll of an offensive game to win.

Michigan has scored 90 plus and hit 10+ 3s in every tournament game, at a good percentage too

I know I always bitch about the times, but why the hell is this game at 8:50? It's ridiculous. I took me 6-7 tries before I finally found a place that will be open, and it's brand new. I forgot it was an option until the bartender at a different place (which will close at halftime) told me they'd be open.

The NFL learned a long time ago that ratings go up if you start earlier. 8:00 is the latest this game should start.
You’re lucky. A few years ago they moved the game time to 8:50ET. It used to be 9:20 or so.

My last post on this. You are incorrect and misinterpreting what Dusty May said. There were a couple of passes off the backboard that count as missed shots, but other shots Cadeau shot were actually missed shots. May told Cadeau if he has to shoot or was indecisive about shooting due to Krivas' drop coverage then Cadeau was to shoot, with the intention of making the shot, but if he does miss he should miss them long because Mara or Morez would be in great position for the offensive rebound after rolling to the basket from the PnR. Mara and Morez would be behind Krivas in these situations. Dusty said this and is directly quoted:

Q. At halftime, Elliot’s 2-of-14 and ends up with a double-double. Even though 2-of-14, the TBS staff at halftime, broadcasters today called him by far the best player on the court. When did this additional gear kick in for him as a distributor and as a leader of this team?
DUSTY MAY: As a distributor, he’s always been that. As far as his leadership, he’s been really consistent with that as well. He leads more with his energy and effort.
And I thought he took what the game gave him in the first half. You mentioned his attempts. A couple of those were passes off the backboard. Krivas is so good in his drops, we didn’t think we’d be able to throw traditional lobs. So we’ve spent about 5 to 10 minutes the last three days working on the lob off the backboard. So he didn’t really have that many attempts.
And then we told him if he got caught in between he and they forced him to shoot those -- we don’t shoot a lot of floaters and middies -- but if he does have to shoot them, just make sure if you miss them you miss them long, because he’s going to pull the big over and it’s going to give Aday and Rez and those guys an opportunity to rebound on the backside.
And then obviously he got it going in the second half and made several big, big shots and found his rhythm.

BTW, AI is not always fact either.

So you've just admitted that Cadeau did deliberately make passes off the backboard!
That's all that I claimed. I'd never claimed that he never missed a shot and someone got the offensive rebound!

Yaxel potentially being out or severely limited is massive. We gotta do our best to make cadaue a scorer, help Tarris on the boards, and hopefully get Mara in foul trouble. If this game becomes a grind, it’s within our reach.
They boat raced AZ without him.

Everybody at the Athletic including the janitor is going with UM (17 vs 5). Not sure how many of them have actually watched a UConn game before Duke

Can we just say Cadeau was trying to get the ball to Mara by rapidly projecting the ball off the backboard and call it a draw?

Seth Greenberg: UConn 68-64 prediction.

He took St Joe’s to beat UConn first round in 2014. Almost happened. I’d rather have everyone against UConn.

Just like I didn't want to see crazy Michael Irvin celebrating a Miami College Football National Championship, I also don't want to see the Chris Webber and the Fail Five celebrating a Michigan College Basketball National Championship.

I'm with you man. I won't even see it as an upset when we win. This team and our coaching staff will be ready. And we sure as hell know how to lay out the surprises. 40 minutes of championship ball and we only have to win by 1. Being the underdog is pure Mojo. Let's go!

The first play of the game looked like a legit example and it worked well. The second two “examples” I saw were horrible decisions if that’s what he was really trying to do. There was a 10-foot bank shot when the Arizona big never came out to contest so he just blocked out Mara and Arizona got the board. And a wild one off the top of the backboard where Michigan’s bigs weren’t in the paint and I think it ended up in a held ball.

Tarris and AK do sometimes try to shot block, where this could work, but they might be more apt to put a body on someone tonight anyway. Given the putback danger on misses that actually aren’t on purpose.
I never claimed that every "shot" he missed was actually a pass. But some of them were.

Yeah, I’m pretty relaxed. Six titles and a crazy comeback win over Duke will do that. But even if we have nothing to lose, I really don’t want to lose!

I told myself house money if they made the regional finals and I'm sitting here nauseous and vibrating trying to get work done.

I mean if this is a tight game at the under-4 timeout I’m going to be shaking like
