The Illinois board did a breakdown and it was mainly foul trouble. He also didn’t play that well when he was in the game.I hear you. I don't remember why he only played 15 minutes in the game against us.
Wild card defender other than Silas/Ross on Wagler for a change of pace-Malachi. Hear me out. We've seen shorter dudes like Bazz/Boat wreak havoc with taller guards like Harrison twins of Kentucky. Who were 6'6". In their grill -tight D-swiping at higher dribble radius due to their height advantage. Malachi has consistently held his own as Silas has gotten himself back in shape during the Tournament and leading up to the Tournament. Who is Malachi guarding when Silas is on the bench catching a blow? Boswell? Just sayin' could provide a 5-7 minute break(for Silas) of tough NYC disruptive D to break up their offensive flow. Do Ross/Silas match up better vs Wagler? Yes they do.Yup - he's clever, and he's long. He's not strong or explosive. Stay in front of him, keep a hand in his face, make him work. And like you said, do not bite on the ball fakes and pumps. Jordan Scott on MSU held him to 2-16. He's 6'7" 200, sound familiar. Feel this one out - start Silas on him, see how that goes.
I believe it was ten games. We went 3-1 in the 1998 tournament, 6-0 in 1999.Did Rip do that in 9 games? Sheesh.
It'll be interesting to see where late action on the UConn game lands. I honestly don't know how it can land on Illinois, at all. Like at all. This is like Nick Saban going up against Kalen DeBoer. You're going to tell me the team with Hurley as coach, multiple players with NC experience, with the best big in the tourney peaking, with two guys coming off injury, who beat this team earlier in the year, are dogs, you are kidding me. While some close games, this Illinois team was 4-5 before the big dance. I don't want to hear how they are "peaking" because they beat one team seeded higher than 9. Nevermind the fact their style walks right into our hands, that we are 21-0 in games with an O/U under 142, have multiple defenders that can handle their best player, etc. Late dump on UConn in this one.So much content to watch. Avery Johnson just said we rely on Solo for his defense. It is entertaining watching these talking heads spewing made up random thoughts to fill air time.

This pisses me off. Talking about UConn like they don’t deserve to even be here? With our non conference? Plaster that up on that board.Good I hope our team hears this.
Some folks are just idiots. This pisses me off. Talking about UConn like they don’t deserve to even be here? With our non conference? Plaster that up on that board.
Clearly trying to get callers on the show and trying to go viral. Anyone who says we don't deserve to be here is an idiot. Got into the sweet 16 with our pg on the bench. Some people had us losing to UCLA, most had us losing to Michigan State and no one had us beating Duke. Can't pick against us then say we don't deserve to be here, you can't have it both ways. This pisses me off. Talking about UConn like they don’t deserve to even be here? With our non conference? Plaster that up on that board.
He's not saying they're not good enough to be here. He's saying it was a miracle play and shot that got them here. I have no problem with it. Whatever, some guy's prediction on a Chicago radio show? Who cares?Clearly trying to get callers on the show and trying to go viral. Anyone who says we don't deserve to be here is an idiot.
He said they don’t deserve to be here that’s different than saying it was a lucky play. It’s called March Madness for a reason there’s always elements of luck. I don’t really care either but hopefully it provides some bulletin board material for Hurley not that I necessarily believe in bulletin board material but it can’t hurt. He's not saying they're not good enough to be here. Yea but they beat a 9 seed. Switch draws and we’re probably still here. His point was definitely that we’re lucky to be here while Illinois deserves to be here. He's not saying they're not good enough to be here. He's saying it was a miracle play and shot that got them here. I have no problem with it. Whatever, some guy's prediction on a Chicago radio show? Who cares?
Renovations are happening at Gampel so believe it's happening at MorroneDoes anyone know if they're going to open Gampel for viewing the game on the big screen, as they've done before?
Listen again. He called the shot a "fluke". Whatever. He said they don’t deserve to be here that’s different than saying it was a lucky play. Yea fluke insinuates we don’t deserve to be here. Beating one team above a 9 seed while we beat 3 including the number one overall seed is what’s the fluke.Listen again. He called the shot a "fluke". Whatever.
The one thing I do have a problem with is if you're going to say Illinois is a different team now because they play through Wagler, and he only had 3 points in the game back in November, then at least mention that UConn is a different team also since Reed and Mullins were just coming off injuries and had 2 points each.
it's still a dumb as fk take because we used the miracle play to beat DUKE and duke is far better than illinois. the methodical comeback over the second half is also not luck. if anything we were unlucky with our shooting otherwise it would be a more comfortable winHe's not saying they're not good enough to be here.
