-> “I told everyone on Tuesday, this is probably the best offensive line we’ll play, They have good running backs, and we got pushed around. I did not see that coming. We can kind of understand a little bit when Army rushes for what they did. But to see this, and really, there's not a whole lot you can do as a play caller, as a defense. You know when you're supposed to be in your gap and you're not, or you're supposed to make the tackle and you don't? You know it's hard. I felt for Roc (Bellantoni) tonight. You know that that's hard. You're searching for things to help your defense, and it didn't matter what he called,” Herman said. <-

ESPN SP+ rankings. SP+ is intended to be predictive and forward-facing. It is not a résumé ranking that gives credit for big wins or particularly brave scheduling--no good predictive system is. It's simply a measure of the most sustainable and predictable aspects of football. If you're lucky but unimpressive in a win, your rating will likely fall. If you're strong but unlucky in a loss, it will probably rise.

This week's movers
Let's take a look at the teams that saw the biggest change in their overall ratings. (Note: We're looking at ratings, not rankings.)

MOVING UP:
UConn: up 5.8 adjusted points per game (from 116th to 97th)
Virginia: up 4.8 points (from 79th to 62nd)
Cincinnati: up 4.3 points (from 62nd to 50th)
South Alabama: up 4.2 points (from 84th to 71st)
Duke: up 4.2 points (from 52nd to 34th)
North Texas: up 4.2 points (from 99th to 88th)
Iowa State: up 3.9 points (from 33rd to 26th)
SMU: up 3.7 points (from 38th to 28th)
Jacksonville State: up 3.6 points (from 122nd to 112th)
Kentucky: up 3.6 points (from 31st to 23rd)

Once a team has played four games, the opponent and conference adjustments begin to get stronger and the weight of the preseason projections diminishes considerably. We therefore saw some teams (like Kentucky) move up or down based both on their Week 4 performance and all these other factors as well. But the teams that moved up the most did so because of particularly impressive Saturday performances. UConn was a slight underdog against FAU but won by 34 points, while South Alabama won by 34 as a road underdog. The Jaguars began the season poorly but have skyrocketed after back-to-back brilliant performances.

Back in the summer we had an entire thread devoted to asking whether Coach Mora had checked out because he wasn't tweeting enough. I would encourage everyone to watch the game recap video just posted and judge for yourself. The man is very much into this and the players have bought in. The program is a work in progress but it's great to see the passion.

We all know coach speak and them laying it on leading up to a weeks opponent. But interesting comments (sounds like an alternate reality from what we've heard about the program for years from the outside)....looking back by a Tom Herman before the Wagner game. " What is Uconn and Coach Mora doing with that program.....NIL, 2 Deep, S & C etc. " we've got look like, play like, act like at Uconn " ...starts at about the 2:30 make.

True story and good recall. The 2 thoughts were either that or maybe he was in the " just STF and win" mode. I think we know the answer !
P.S. and it was nice he got a "ten fold" kick in his NIL ;)

Three weeks ago no way I would have predicted comments like this from an opposing coach that just played us. So weird.

"We've gotta speed this thing up in a hurry if we want to look like, play like, act like UConn."

Hot damn! If folks didn't already live the job that Mora and Benedict were doing, then take these comments and compare them against what we've gone through over the last decade...

FAU got hit hard in the portal last year. They lost 6 starters, 7 second stringers, and one 3rd stringer to other FBS schools. On the OL, lost 2 starters and 1 2nd string to the portal. On the DL/Edge, FAU lost 2 starters, 2 second stringers, and one 3rd sting. They lost 2 starting WRs and 1 backup. Hard to be a good team if you are getting hit like that.
