- UConn vs. DePaul Game Thread -

Every shot by DePaul should be forced inside the arc. Make every shooter put the ball on the floor. When these hot 3pt DePaul shooters go cold it's gonna be tough for them to score.

For those who can't see the game - we aren't posting because the players are running back and forth constantly, mostly running up and down at full speed. We can either watch the game or type.

Impressive first kwatter. Some snappy passes/assists by our kids...

Entertaining 1st qtr. DePaul trying to speed up the Huskies with their pressure defense, but it's leading to lots of defensive breakdowns by the Blue Demons...Lots of Husky open shots

This must be the fastest game I have ever seen... 53 points in 10 minutes by both teams... Wow!!!

Kia has 10 pts already... so far she is UConn score leader in last 4 games

Kia, Gabby, KLS, and Collier with 1000+ points - UConn only men's or women's D-I team to have 4 1000+ point scorers.

Interesting stat from LaChina:

100+ assists for Kia every year.

I got a chuckle out of Bob Joyce and his version of Illinois Geography. Normal, Illinois is dab smack in the middle of the state, not in the far Southern part.

Wonder how many minutes the bench will play tonight with DePaul's Helter-Skelter style of play. Is any lead safe with the freshmen playing significant minutes as a group and all starters on the bnech? Hopefully more then Megan will get to play, but I see Geno leaving two or three starters (including Azura') on the floor until 2 or 3 minutes left in the game. That presumes UConn is able to get out to a 20+ point lead.

That doesn't explain why her shot is so off mechanically and she's missing gimmes she buried last year.
I gotta go back to last year's game and see her shot. It looks weird this year. I know she spent the summer working with a trainer, but who knows what that means.

That first quarter was some really crisp offense for UConn. Just slicing up the defense. More like I'd expect from the Huskies. Some of the earlier games most of their points were coming in transition, half court didn't look very smooth.

Hoping to have a lot of inside FG attempts to maximize free throws tonight - slows the game down and gives them some breathers , plus fouls on them will add up :)
