You’re kidding right. Have you seen the facilities in the BIG and SEC. Play in front of large crowds. UConn facility is a high school gym.
No, I'm not kidding in the least. UConn has a dedicated volleyball facility rather than just playing in the basketball arena. Which team in the BIG or the SEC has dedicated volleyball facilities that you believe are better?

If you think UConn can compete against SEC and BIG teams I have a bridge to sell you. Maybe at least win the Big East first. Does UConn even offer NIL to volleyball players?UConn needs to increase NIL on football. Stop wasting money on these sports that do not help UConn get into P4 conference.

Lol, so you can't name even one that's better. I didn't think so.

To be fair, a number of schools have dedicated VB facilities separate from the basketball arena. Nebraska's Devaney Center and Texas's Gregory Gym are two of the best known.

The Devaney Center isn't a dedicated volleyball facility I believe they host a half dozen different sports there. Similarly, Gregory Gym also hosts Rec sports. I'm sure both are very nice multi sport facilities, but they aren't dedicated volleyball facilities.

That is not correct but it probably can't hurt
Can you think of any other dedicated volleyball facilities that are better?

I know you are trying to thread the needle w/ dedicated to volleyball only but there are a few multipurpose facilities on campuses where volleyball is the primary tenant but share w/ say wrestling and other campus functions. I think the Maturi Pavilion @ Minnesota fits that bill.

The UConn Volleyball Center is very cool and most appreciated by the team and hopefully becomes a difficult place to play for visitors.

If by "thread a needle" you mean highlight the fact that Connecticut has a dedicated facility for volleyball, you are correct. There is a difference between having your own dedicated facility and sharing a facility with a bunch of teams. It expresses a level of commitment and respect by the university that most other universities can't match. That may be attractive to potential recruits.

The poster who suggested that our facility was somehow lacking compared to Big 10 or SEC facilities was uninformed about our facility.

Nice red herring. The discussion was about the new facilities helping to improve recruiting. There may have been some hyperbole about best facilities in the nation - though even that was speculative. I don't believe competing with SEC and B1G teams was mentioned anywhere.

Actually, there wasn't. The new facilities are, undoubtedly, very nice, and a major step up from using Gampel. The move also allows us to eliminate the portable seating at Gampel, which might've been ann additional motivating factor for the athletic department as well.

If we win, do we host? Seems like a very fast turnaround for the semis. We have a higher RPI than Bowling Green in the next round.
