Women UConn Volleyball 2024

Reality Check.

I love UConn volleyball, but the combined record of our eight opponents to date is 24-41 (36.9%). Only one, Stony Brook at 7-2, has a winning record. Absent Stony Brook, the remaining seven have a record of 17-39 (30.4%).

UConn fall sports have a ridiculous record this year. Women's soccer, field hockey, volleyball, men's soccer and even adding football and they only have 4 or so losses and around 20 wins.

They're not going to be nationally good, they may not even be terribly competitive in the Big East considering early season results for some other teams, but considering how bad some previous years have been, I'll take an 8-0 start against poor competition. Mix that with the new facility and maybe there's some momentum to be found for the program.

I don't think it's that unreasonable to hope for an undefeated non-conference slate this year, though New Hampshire will likely be very tough. I think I will be going to the game today, so hopefully it continues.

Up 19-15 in the first set, blow the lead and go on to drop the set 27-25. Very unimpressive

2nd and 3rd sets have been better. Not threatening through the middle very often but fewer mistakes. Werkmeister is a heck of a player.

Dartmouth really deteriorated in the 4th set - lot of mistakes. UConn wins 3 sets to 1. UConn now 9-0, their best ever record to start a season

I watched Creighton play at Nebraska the other night. Wow, Even though Nebraska bested them 3-2, Creighton is a beast. They absolutely belong in the hunt for the NC. I may be able to get to see the Huskies play them here in Omaha in 2 weeks, but with limited seating capacity and their new found bandwagon fans, it may be a tough ticket. Still, I'd like to see the Huskies roll them (I don't like Creighton;))

That would be the biggest upset in modern UConn athletics history. Would be exciting!
