And maybe a better infield defensive coach tooBottom 2nd, Casparius with 3 strikeouts, with a Christian Fedko infield error thrown in. 2-0 UConn.
Both Chris Jones and Coach Penders in interviews has talked about infield defense being one of the biggest weaknesses of this team. UConn could certainly use better play up the middle next season.
I know I'm new to UConn baseball but I just don't understand the hype around CFed. Don't get me wrong, he isn't a bad player but people seem to love this guy. It seems like he is a great teammate and must be to be named a captain. But production wise, he doesn't knock my socks off on offense or defense.
Offensively he can be quite good, but he has been slumping of late. Defense has always been a question mark with him. If you ask me, Bushling is similar at shortstop. It's tough to have two similar players like this in the middle of the infield.
Chris Brown with a 2 run homer while the audio was out. 4-2 UConn lead.
Earlier this season and in '18, '19, '20, Fedko was consistently one of the clutchest hitters on the team. This is the first time I've seen him look this frustrated at the dish.I know I'm new to UConn baseball but I just don't understand the hype around CFed. Anthony Prato made me fall in love with UConn baseball. He was a stud, loved watching him playMakes you really miss the days when UConn had Prato and Woodworth in the middle of the infield.
Bottom 5th, Casparius with a 1-2-3 inning. Casparius at 60 pitches. Casparius did get hit by a hit ball on the 2nd out, so that may bear watching.
Top 6th, UConn with another 2 out rally attempt with Bushling getting a 2 out double. Pitching change for Villanova. Kyler Fedko reaches on an infield 3B error. Chris Winkel follows with a 3 run homer!! 7-2 UConn. Winkel now with 10 homers on the season to lead the Huskies.
