Bottom 9th, Shpur leads off with an infield single, followed by Daniels getting hit by a pitch. With 1 out, a double steal by Shpur and Daniels puts 2 runners in scoring position. A ground out by Dougherty for the 2nd out brings in a run, 4-3 Seton Hall.

Padilla follows with a 2 out RBI single, the game is tied at 4.

Well, the game is going into extra innings.

Last summer, Connor Lane played for the Norwich Sea Unicorns of the Futures League. My wife and I have season tickets to Norwich games, so we saw Lane play a lot last summer. Lane got a number of walks and showed some power, but in general he was not a big offensive player with Norwich. However, as this UConn season goes along, Lane has been getting better and better offensively, that is for sure.

Well, the bats made us sweat it out but in the end a win is a win. The good news is that we’re right back in the conference race. Half a game behind the Red Stain and even with X. Win tomorrow and our position can’t get worse heading into Queens next weekend.

The bad news is that this winning streak has literally done zippo for our RPI. Winning all your games at home against crappy opponents doesn’t get you anywhere. And the games in Queens next weekend are the only games on our schedule with a chance to materially move our RPI up.
 
Fun game in the cold. Caruso has a deceptive motion, just needs to get the ball over the plate and lefties will have almost no chance against him. Shaw wasn't bad outside the 1 pitch to Milewski and Finn was electric with the breaking ball.

Seton Hall has 3 guys(2 from CT) that could play for us. 2 outfielders, Robbins, the kid from Orange and Milewski who is accurate on his throws to 2nd, frames pitches well and hits bombs. I would like to see how they wound up at Seton Hall.

The home plate umpire was so bad. I sat behind the left handed batters box and the calls were inconsistent to awful.
 
The strike 3 call on Minick in the 9th was not a good call. That ump had a tough night.

Shaw / Finn got the job done - hung around long enough for the bats. Penders was happy.

Need the offense to jump out quick today. Don’t think there is much of their pen left.

Runs would be nice. No real answer for what happens if Shaw can’t get them five inning minimum. Afthim is probably good for 2. Other than that who knows.

You are thinking about AJ Soldra (Amity/Cheshire Academy) and Milewski (ND-WH). Soldra is a scrappy kid who just seems to always get on base. He went to NJIT continued to grow and then transferred in to the Pirates this year. We still have time to try to repatriate him.
 
West on short rest probably means a pitch or inning count. Maybe a little bounce back from Cooke and a quick stint from Shaw. If Abedessa, Hutchinson, Alejandro or anyone else can give us an inning or two before Afthim, that would be optimal.

I hear you, but at this point I’ll happily take the wins and not worry about RPI. This season basically hinges on the conference tourney, so I’ll take as much positive momentum and confidence the team can get before that. Just keep winning, whatever it takes

Wonder if Minick is going to be more or less the regular at 1B for the rest of the season, he has been getting a lot of playing time there of late. Of course, some of this may depend on the health and playing ability of Dalena and MacArthur for the rest of the season as well.

Of course, Dalena may be out for the rest of season with a wrist injury which I believe he got surgery for if I heard Chris Jones correctly.
