19 pitches for Wallace in his 1 1/3 innings...he will be available at least one more time this series.

This was probably the easiest game in this series and we played good offense and defense. Split tomorrow and take Sunday!

Even if Kersten throws a solid six innings tomorrow, I expect that there will be plenty of bullpen work for Gardner, Wurster, Johnson, and company. Might even see Randy Polonia and Joe Simeone out of the pen tomorrow.
 
Caught the first few innings on the WHUS stream heading back from Storrs after picking up the youngest for break - rest of game was frustrating because I was out of pocket and picking game off Twitter and BY. Not a stellar game but another nice Friday win against a strong name. Appreciate the updates.

>Pat Winkle's two-run single in the fourth inning was the first run scoring base hit of the freshman's career. The first four RBIs of the season came via sacrifice flies.

>UConn is 3-0 in games started by Mason Feole this season.

>Conor Moriarty recorded his first multi-hit game of the season after coming off the bench for the injured David Langer.

>Mike Woodworth's team-high 10-game hit streak was snapped in his 0-3 performance with a sac fly and pair of walks.
 
These four game weekends are proving to be tough on the pitching staff, especially early in the season when teams such as UConn don't necessarily know which young pitchers they can trust. Still, these four game weekends do serve a purpose, as they do mimic the pile up of games that can take place in both conference tournaments and in the first weekend of the NCAA tournament, where a team can end up playing 5 or 6 games in a short period of time.

MSU is throwing by far their best pitcher in game #1. If we can force him out early they are in trouble.

Nucerino gets his first start since opening day. Of course, he's been sidelined until this weekend with a hammy injury. Langer out, he came out of last night's game due to swelling caused by the hit by pitch last night that ended up hampering his swing, according to the postgame interview with Penders.

Top 1st, UConn has the bases loaded with 2 out, and the Michigan State coach just got tossed out of the game due to a disputed hit by pitch call on Christian Fedko.

Jonesy was just saying this is the ace of the spartan staff. This team seems to rise to occasion against the aces it’s the second and many cases third starters that gives them fits
