UConn loads the bases w/ 2 outs, UNCG makes a pitching change and they get out of the inning unscathed.

Suchy back out for B6

Nothing going for UConn bats in T8.

Suchy done for the day (102 total pitches)

Ian Cooke comes in for the B8 and gives up a lead-off home run, followed by a single up the middle.

Afthim coming in from the pen w/ 1 out - man on first.

Nice job Sookie!

The offense needs to figure out how to hit mediocre bullpen arms. We would have swept Campbell if we could.

Afthim shuts down the threat w/ 2Ks around a BB.

Thirteen strikeouts for UConn hitters (so far). Only Dougherty was K-less among the starters.

Someone will have to explain why Bellisario stole third there. I don’t get that move at all. Cost us a run and could be 3-0.
I completely agree, I know it is the Penders way, but you are already in scoring position, get thrown out and next guy gets a single. Also, have to explain to me in the second inning with one out, we bunt the guy down to second, now 2 outs? Don't get that one either. Anyways, another great pitching performance. Thank goodness we have had 2 newcomers step up starting pitching wise. Cooke continues to struggle.

Seems like Cooke is pitching BP. I hope he find find his groove again.

Well, Suchy will get more Saturday starts according to this interview. No surprise from what I saw in the box score.

From what I can tell from what I have read and from seeing the box score, I missed a pretty good UConn baseball game. My wife and I were at UConn today to see the first round of the women's basketball tournament that UConn is in. Too bad these tournament games and the UConn baseball game were on at the same time.

Pudivar and Suchy have turned the corner and hopefully can maintain it moving forward. We need Ellison to turn the corner as well. Cooke is finding bats right now, I am surprised with his year thus far. Van Emon has to be a mental thing, which makes the Oklahoma game even shocking.

Shaw to Athim works well. We need Caruso, Abedessa and maybe Hutchinson to step up next. If that happens, we could have the makings of a pretty good regular season staff. I like Finn and hope they work him in. He could be a wild card in the post season.

I will be totally focused on the basketball game, but even having won the series this is a huge game for us before heading north to the less competitive Big East and New England OOC opponents part of the season. RPI has been significantly moved by the last 3 wins. One more chance to benefit significantly from a road win against a sunbelt opponent before we start with the northeast and rust belt games, where wins often don’t keep the RPI from falling.

Top 1st, after 2 singles leading off the inning, this is followed by a double play. A scoreless inning for the UConn offense. No score.
