UConn @ UMass (4/16/19 @ 3p)

I'd guess he pulled him that quickly to preserve the chance that he can come in once over the weekend. Let Haus start Monday and there's still another weekday game for Coby.

I expect Dunlop was pulled because he wasn't pitching particularly well in this game. In addition to what you say, starting Dunlop on Wednesday would also make more sense as Rhode Island is the more difficult game.

Pretty happy with the way Joey is attacking the UMass kiddoes. 8-1 neutral guys going to the 6th.

Still thinking that Simeone could emerge as a valuable pitcher somewhere down the line during his career as a Husky.

Thad Phillips now behind the plate for UConn, having pinch run for Pat Winkel in the top of the 6th.

Randy Polonia on to pitch to bottom of the 6th. He is in need of a good outing.

Anyone know why no Nucerino today? I had assumed he had played his way into starting every day.

According to Chris Jones, Nucerino had a class that he had to attend today, so he missed the start of the game. He drove up and is at the game now.

Lead off double, followed by a couple of ground outs scores a run for UMass off of Mayock in the 7th. Strikeout ends the inning. 8-2 UConn.

Thanks. Endearing to know that academics actually can be a priority, at least at times.

From listening to Chris Jones, you do hear on occasion of players missing these midweek games due to classes.

Top 8th, bases loaded Chris Winkel sac fly brings in a run to make it 9-2. Two out.

Our pitchers are doing a nice job of pounding the zone with the big lead.

If Santos is going to come in and get a chance and do nothing but walk guys, throw wild pitches and hit guys I would rather be done with him as he is a Senior and if he hasn't figured out by now he won't. Rather see Sanderson who is at least a FR and can hopefully grow from opportunity.

Bases loaded, no out, 1 run in. Santos could not find the strike zone today. Kenny Haus into the game.

Santos has had a few good outings in a row, but not today. It happens. Guessing he will maintain his role of closing out lopsided midweek games instead of moving up in the bullpen pitching chain.

Game is now 10-5 with 2 runners on, Haus gets a strikeout for the first out. Wurster starting to warm up just in case. Fly out for the second out.

Ridiculous. Tying run coming to the plate. This is why you don't take the foot off the pedal when you have an 8-1 lead after 3.

They only have two frigging hits this inning (1 that didn't leave the infield). Totally unacceptable by Santos.

I just hope Penders didn't screw around too long before deciding to bring in a reliable arm.

Wurster walks the first batter, but gets the final out on a fly out to the wall and the save, UConn the 10-7 win.
