Maston & Thomas as team scoring leaders. I never would have thought that. I swear Daniels hit a deep jump shot but I guess not.
There wasn't anywhere near the floor spacing or options you equate with Hurley's teams. In both games I saw Saturday, most of the action was in the paint, and it got very crowded in there. Maston & Thomas both run the floor very well, but neither are the kind of screen setters Clingan was, so it was a bit more of a challenge for Cole & Boat to get to the rim, although Purv did pretty well. We didn't get much offensive rebounding from our guards, so the few second chance points were mostly putbacks by our 5s. What both Maston & Thomas did very well was drive to the hoop and finish, as they were simply better than Herkimer's bigs (although the fat guy couldn't be backed down), and with the refs swallowing whistles for the most part, both could do whatever they needed to to plow through the traffic. Also, Daniels didn't seem to make himself a scoring option all that often.

it's getting ugly
Happy Valley is getting wide open rythm 3s in halfcourt due to some bad position defense and easy baskets due to live ball turnovers by SOS halfcourt offense.. Get this deficit down by 8 or less. by HT

Getting run off the floor right now. They don’t play a shred of defense lol
The biggest difference of the Happy Valley team is that they feature a lot of players who have played together recently.

Sessoms, Dread, Harrar and Lee were starters for Penn State in the 2021-22 season. Sessoms, Dread and Harrar also played with Myreon Jones, Izaiah Brockington, Trent Buttrick and Kyle McCloskey in the 2020-21 season. Some of these guys have played together for four years.

They're basically a bunch of early-to-mid 20-somethings who've jelled together for years. Excellent suited for a tournament of this style w/ very little practice/prep, they're like all going on a bike ride together while Stars of Storrs are learning to ride.

It's gonna need to be a completely different second half to have a shot.

Bigs 8-14, 20pts, 0-5 3pt
Guards 6-22, 15pts, 3-13 3pt (Purv & Boat both 1-5 from 3, have not taken a 2pt shot yet)

I'm not watching the game, but seems to me the offensive answers sort of explain themselves, no?

Posted when the first roster spots were announced, predictable to see this coming
yup. It looks like a pick up game at times with people walking. Also, it does not help that Purvis is stinking up the joint.

@ Hey Adrien- the Jeff Adrien we remember, the muscular alpha male from 2009, ain't here. Adrien looks fat and slow and old.

Boat doing all he can do in 2nd half offensively - Penn St. on fire from the open 3, can't miss.

The concept is fun. And it’s great to see some of our favorites play one more time. But unless we have primarily players from teams that compete within the last 10 years, they’ll never really be competitive. It’s a young man’s game.
And like Hey Adrien said, playing together for a while. These Penn St alums recently graduated from Penn State and played together on Penn State.

Well, B- for effort. Good, but they just didn't realize how much effort on D they would have to play with the Happy Valley Whatevers hitting their 3s.

It's the first time any UConn Men's Basketball has seen a single elimination loss to end things since New Mexico State in 2022.

It was fun seeing these guys hooping together. I'm glad UConn put together a team for TBT.
Me too. I to echo what aceboon said, I would like them to get younger. I don't mind seeing Boatright and Purvis, but anyone older than them probably shouldn't play unless Thabeet would be willing to do so. Shout out to the non-UConn alums-they were solid.

They’ll put together better teams in the future. Maybe the Olympics and G League kept us from bringing in a couple of guys.
