UConn @ Seton Hall - Fri. 3/24 @3p, Sat. 3/25@11a & Sun. 3/26 @11a

Easy 1-2-3 inning for Radue. Still, I would be very surprised not to see John Russell come in for the 9th.

Excellent! I can follow the entire game. We faced Seton Hall's only consistent starter today, so we have a good chance to win this series.

Big praise from Penders for Rossomando (who found out he was starting at about 10:30 this morning) and Domnarski.

As for my own thoughts, it looks like we're starting to see some really nice things from the long men in the UConn bullpen, Domnarski and Nepiarsky. Getting those two guys back on the beam after a shaky start to the season would be big. At the same time, I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever be able to figure out the guys Penders is going to use this year for midweek starters. Do we see PJ Poulin again next week, with Domnarski and Nepiarsky waiting in the relief wings?

He may have a few shaky outings that everyone remembers, but John Russell is really starting to impress as the UConn closer. He could be on the verge of really breaking out.

Huskies Come Back In Eighth to Knock Off Pirates

Notes
  • Zac Susi has eclipsed his RBI total from last season, with his two RBIs; Susi has 22 runs batted in this season. As a freshman, Susi had 21 runs batted in. Susi has five multi-RBI games this season.
  • Doug Domnarski notched his first victory of the season for the Huskies. It is Domnarski's second career win as a Husky. The first came last season on March 15 at USC.
  • UConn earned its first victory of the season when trailing after seven (1-6). The Huskies are now 8-0 when leading after eight.
  • With the one-run victory, the Huskies are 3-4 in one-run games this season.

Montgomerie is off to one of his infamous 1st inning starts, walking the first two batters.

Offense usually takes a bit to get going.

Why are we pitching too carefully to a team that was thoroughly destroyed by our bullpen day pitching????

Pretty much a prototypical Montgomerie 1st inning. Over 30 pitches, two walks, 1 run in. Hopefully he settles in the rest of the way like he usually does.

Interesting contrast comparison by Chris Jones. With the altitude, BYU is one of the best places to hit. With the wind blowing in, Seton Hall is one of the worst places to hit.

Gnesda solo homer ties it up in the top of the 2nd.

...yes Tyler, hitting the ball over the fence is a great way to overcome terrible luck on balls hit in play. Nice piece of hitting.

If we settle in, we have the pitching advantage today.
