Not exactly a splashy hire, but OK. Hopefully this guy knows what he's doing.

He actually seems like a good hire, coming over from a P-5 school (Auburn), although it would have been better if we could have gotten someone from the B1G or ACC.

Nutmeg

He must of done very well in the interview process since the resume isn't that impressive. Maybe he did well in the interview process because he seems to have had lots of practice over the past 10 years! Trust Susan, but this looks a little sketchy on the surface.

Well he had the same job at Minnesota (B1G) 2 years ago

He doesn't sound like a rock star, more of a career administrator.

This seems to fit what I'd heard, that we were targetting an unconventional candidate with a more business-side background.

Let's hope the commentators have been correct about CR issues being decided at the President level, not the AD level. This guy isn't exactly killing it with name recognition or corrections.

I have to believe one of the most important questions during the interview was: "How would you successfully get UConn into a Power 5 conference?"

Perhaps he aced the only question that mattered.

Lets see.

Shaka Smith got VCU into a better conference.

If Shaka Smart taking VCU to one FF was what moved them up, why are we still sitting pretty in the American with 4 NCs, multiple All-Americans, NBA All-Stars, and the legacy of the greatest coach of all time attached to our name?

That guy too. It's a much smaller leap to the A10, a basketball conference, after they lose two schools than to any P5 conference.

Seems like the school has confidence in Susan to get us into a P5, and wanted an AD to handle the financials. Susan has proven that we should trust her making good/great hires, lets give her the benefit of the doubt!

I get what you're saying. But it has to count for something that Benedict knows what a successful negotiation process between a school looking to move up and a higher-tier conference than the one they're in looks like. I feel fairly comfortable knowing that he has that as part of his knowledge base.

Athletics is primarily a business at the administrative level anyway.
