It has to be that. The other option, if you want speed in the lineup is to sit Smith and bring Morton into the outfield Nd have one of the other outfielders Dan Hurley. Also, interesting C Fed not at 2nd

I do think they like Smith's speed at the top of the lineup. But considering Christian Fedko does not have the best defensive reputation in the field, I don't consider him not playing 2B to be a big surprise, especially now that Padilla (who came to UConn with a good glove reputation) is now getting some playing time (of course, we have to see if this continues). Assuming that Brown is able to get out of his offensive and defensive slumps, UConn has Smith, Padilla, Bushling, and Brown to juggle around getting playing time in the infield.
 
Stock makes an...aggressive...baserunning play to get to second on what Jones was expecting to be a single. Pepperdine dropped the potential tag. 2nd and 3rd, 1 out.

Dana has an adventurous groundout to 1st. 2 down for TC, still 0-0. Weird inning so far, really hope we can cash in because Pepperdine has made some mistakes.

Top 1st, UConn strands 2 runners in scoring position. Some funky fielding and base running going on in that half inning.

I certainly noticed that on Stock's hit (his hitting streak continues). Really didn't show the play at all.

This is Penders. He wants his players to run like little leaguers. Been doing this since he began.
 
Two straight singles to start the top half of the inning. Do we call for a sac bunt here? Bunting has been a problem for this team this year.
 
WP scores UConn's first run of the game. Brown having a nice at bat so far.

Brown works a walk on a long count. This guy's pitch count is elevated already. C'mon Padilla!
 
2-0 after an RBI single by Bushling. Good at bats by everyone this inning, if Pepperdine were playing FIU style matador defense we'd have 4 or 5 runs already.
 
Chris Jones is the best in the business but I am very impressed by this guy on the free WCC broadcast, guy definitely knows his stuff
 
Bottom 2nd, Pepperdine lead off man singles, advances to 2B on a wild pitch. Gallagher strands him picking up 2 strikeouts along the way, three on the game so far. 2-0 UConn.

That may be so, but Chris Jones always has some interesting UConn nuggets of info that other broadcasters probably won't have. That's why I stick to listening to Jonesy. You are likely not to get that info anywhere else.
