Am I the only one who thinks this is a nothing burger? She answered the press's questions in a professional manner. She was very complimentary of Paige. She was emotional in talking about how proud she was of her team. So what that she didn't give an "opening statement"?
To start, I'm bias about Paige. I was not so much influenced about
the Sooner's H.C. not making an "opening statement" as her response
to the reporter's question about (and I'm paraphrasing here): Q: "What did
you think about your options when Paige Buecker turned on her "HEATER"?
I expected, in my biased viewpoint, some thoughtful and H.C. analysis about
Paige's performance. What I thought I heard was: A: "You know she's so
good...she's really good....". I (biased that I am) thought she could be
more generous to the ALL American who just TORCHED her Sooners out
of the TOURNAMENT! The Sooners played off Paige on some of her
made three pointers (mistake!), and the Sooners never made any adjustments (that I could see) to the "top of the key" screens that freed up Paige for
one intermediate jumper after another, after another, after another!
It was (during the game) that I thought this (remember, I'm no coach). Paige was
great, the SOONER's defensive strategy (IMHO) was open to
question (which was what the interviewer/reporter was asking, no?).
Maybe the coaches and players were just tired of hearing Paige's
shots swish through the net cords? End of my rant... I'm just a little sorry for it.
GO PAIGE, GO SARAH, GO AZZI, GO ASH... tickle the cords: again, and again!
