UConn Needs Forwards!

I have noticed that many of those entering the portal have agents. To me that is crazy and would be a big no no as a player to bring in.
Many of those entering their senior year of high school have agents. I wouldn’t think an agent indicated a no/no to add to a roster

Wow. Who announced this (ie Slim, Talia)? Seems odd that she's following Somfai there, right? Hmm.
Nobody's announced it. I wouldn't be surprised if Trygger ended up at TCU but it hasn't been announced.

Ash is 5' 10" Skylar Forbes is 6' 3" I suspect this was due to
some "mismatch" during the defensive switching that UCONN does.
By The Way .... Help me... did Forbes' team win that game??
Per my past posts, there is no bigger fan of Ash than myself, but one of the weaker points of the game were the switches that left Forbes being guarded by Shade. I don't view this as an Ashley issue but an example of how strong a player Forbes is. Geno loves to coach players with consistent performance and Forbes showed her skills.

.-.
We need the following:

1. Players that can execute while being fouled. Hitting layups, driving into the paint, GETTING OPEN.
2. Players that can hit threes more consistently.
3. Players that can rebound.
Isn't that what EVERY team in the country needs?

With the loss of Caroline Ducharme to graduation and Ayanna Patterson and Ice Brady to transfers, UConn really needs at least one more forward. Since Laura Somfai signed with TCU in supersonic time, who's the best forward for UConn to offer in the transfer portal?
I have to confess, you have me half convinced. The minutes aren't there, but the need for a player of that profile does exist (with a fully healthy lineup I don't think the minutes are there as the roster currently).

Well then, on behalf of Michigan here's hoping SS and Jana enter the portal and we get both of them.
They want to win another championship so, don't hold your breath.

We need toughness. We have some, but not enough.

Look at South Carolina's forwards next season.....Watkins and Kitts will return plus Edwards, Tournabize, Tac and the freshman Andrews and Wynn.....very athletic and quick jumpers.......how is UConn going to stack up against them up front? Sara and Blanca have the quickness but the rest of the front court is either a bit small or big enough but likely not quick enough to stay with their opponents......

That was fast. I was wondering if UConn had any interest in Somfai given that we were one of her three finalists a year ago. You'd think portal players and teams on their final list would be a no-brainer in this portal stuff, but maybe not.

In the initial post, the original poster mentioned three players that didn’t play as reasoning for why UConn needs forwards. I just want to point that out. Cheli is back. And Vukosa are coming in. Is that not acceptable replacement wise?

Also, strong and Blanca are both forwards and they are the best two players on the team.

Based on who you've seen in the portal, anyone come to mind?

I understood her initial attraction to a great program like Stanford..........in choosing TCU, her priorities have markedly changed......
When you have a chance to make an amount of money that could set you up for the rest of your life while still getting to do the thing you love,…Well, that’s never happened to me but if it did, I’d have to seriously consider it at the very least! She will probably blow up there as Campbell will likely loosen the reins and allow her to excel offensively? If so, that will lead to a higher draft number and yet more money down the road. Not so sure the coach at Stanford can compete (at either level) with that.

I've heard reports of some issues at Stanford, so I don't blame her for leaving........If she wants to play basketball at TCU with a team full of highly paid transfers, that's fine by me....

Cheli will take most of the year to come back from a serious injury and Vukosa will play behind Jana until she learns the system.

Last year did have the luxury of Ayanna being available in case of an injury. This next year lacks that.

They should bring in someone. The OP suggests a true UConn level talent that is essentially the Heckel of power forwards. I suggest a career mid-major player that can accomplish Ayanna levels things (the way we brought in a Lou Lopez Senechal, though admittedly less likely to be that good) looking to finish their careers in style (while most playing the 4th quarter of Big East games).

Geno -- I suspect -- ignores us both and in the case of injuries tries to path the whole with Morgan and Allie.

Morgan was already back to practice. She should be back to full speed six months from now when practice starts.

Not knowing better, I would suspect that the timing of her injury was such that rushing things made no sense and they gave her extra time to fully recover before resuming practice.

The big question is whether she can remain healthy next season..........I believe her ankle issue has been a problem since high school......

Cheli better not take most of the year. That’s what this year was. And a serious injury? UConn has been extremely vague about that.

She has had a long history of injuries. But so had Fudd.

Exactly.........if my memory is correct Azzi missed something close to two seasons with injuries while at UConn and this past season was her first that was injury free....
