I saw that too but then I looked into their backups and they're no slouches either statistics wise but they are physically smaller in net. Demko is 6-4 (195), Billet is 6-0 (184) and Barone is 5-10 (177).

Size isn't terribly indicative of quality, plenty of short but solid goalies out there, Jonathan Quick being one - not a chance in hell he's 6'1 btw. Billet's the only one with a decent amount of game experience, but has been a backup his whole career at BC, garnering spot starts here and there. Undoubtedly, both are significant downgrades from Demko

Yes that's true and our own Robbie Nichols is 6-1 but it's still more difficult for the smaller goalies to see through screens. UConn's game-plan should be to get as much traffic in front of the BC goal as possible.

UConn says tonight's home opener is sold out. Expected that over 7,500 people will be at the XL Center as the Huskies take on BC.

Quick and dirty Hockey East ref guide:
Tim Benedetto = Tim Higgins, loves to hear his own whistle
John Gravallese = Jim Burr, well-regarded but has moments of extreme idiocy
Jeff Bunyon = Ted Valentine, hates certain coaches
The Hansens = John Cal, absolutely the worst refs in the league
Jack Millea & Kevin Keenan = Can't think of bball equivalent, both are just completely out to lunch.

1 - 0 UConn after second period. Rob Nichols solid play and a gritty counterattack. BC holding the shot advantage but still frustrated by the Huskies. Finally matched up the video with WHUS audio as Brass Bonanza gets fired up in advance of period 3. Great show for the fans. Go Huskies!

Wow what a win. Impressive netminding display AGAIN by Nichols, PP goal by the former eagle and a signature win. We even had some nice opportunities in the 3rd. We still have a way to go on the offensive side of things but incredible, gutty effort. Kudos to the fans - they looked great, arena was packed and everyone looked to be really into the game.
