UConn MHOC 22-23

-> When he committed to the Huskies last August, the plan was for him to arrive as a true freshman for the 2023-24 season. But Wood tore up the BCHL — one of the top junior hockey leagues in North America — with a league-high 45 goals and 85 points in 46 games for the Victoria Grizzlies as a 16- and 17-year old.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 185 pounds with a right-handed shot, Wood is a power forward with plenty of skill and hockey sense to match. <-

I guess Mike's looking towards 2022-23 or somebody told him to get on social media ;).... but it is an interesting statement and timing. Something big brewing ?

That would be hilarious if he put that out to get a higher financial package from BC.
But yeah he’s definitely staying after that release.

Well it’s no secret in here that I like Cav and think he has done a great job building this program from nothing. Now that he’s staying we have stability back and can work on refilling the roster. Having said that, I do wonder with some of the current players transferring out. What were their reasons?? (Shlaine, Berger) I guess we’ll never know. Looking forward to the new season and team.

I just heard that WICH radio in Norwich, 1310 on the AM dial will be carrying UConn radio network broadcasts of UConn football, basketball, and ice hockey this upcoming season. Great news for us in southeastern Connecticut. I'll certainly be paying more attention to UConn men's ice hockey this winter due to this news.

People here are excited for Matthew Wood and all but I don't think anyone's appreciating enough how nuts it is that we have a lottery pick on our hands. He's the best 17 year old currently in college hockey, is easily a top 10 freshman despite reclassing

The BC Genius finally got his wish.

Not so sure about that. I don't think WICH-AM night coverage area reaches the coastal towns that border Long Island Sound, so not sure if he can listen to that station over the air at night. Still, good news for us who live in the Norwich area, as I have always enjoyed listening to games over the radio.

Just a Transfer Portal folllow-up: Teleguine didn’t end up transferring to another school…

Disappointed he left. He didn’t play much his freshman year but he has a lot of talent.

He’ll probably end up at a pretty solid program next year.

And he’ll be 17 for the majority of the season.

Samu Salminen, the Denver decommit, is someone to watch too. He’s a third round pick but has first round talent. The reason he dropped is his skating needs to improve.
