UConn men's hockey exceeding expectations at halfway point
The Huskies looked to be headed towards a rebuild. Instead, they've gotten better.
As much as I love hockey, basketball pays the bills. Hockey should be 4th fiddle behind Football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball.Second fiddle to mens’ basketball, third fiddle to womens’.
Agreed. I was referencing winter sports only, hence the exclusion of top dog football. As much as I love hockey, basketball pays the bills. Hockey should be 4th fiddle behind Football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball.
So this is a surprise I just stumbled across:
Six from Hockey East:
Others receiving votes: Augustana 69, Dartmouth 58, Connecticut 37, Massachusetts 24, Wisconsin 17, Bentley 13, Michigan Tech 12, Harvard 6, Niagara 6, Sacred Heart 4, Bowling Green 3, Bemidji State 1, LIU 1, Northeastern 1, Princeton 1
QU has their tickets for sale:Any news on CT ICE? I'm a season ticket holder but don't know if we get an allotment at Sacred Heart, I haven't seen any communication. Seems to be common theme about this tournament. I guess I should contact my ticket rep...
Are there any specific UConn sections for these games?QU has their tickets for sale:

There has never been a really convincing reason given. Could it be these National juniors teams? The top teams in HE are always at risk of losing several players for a couple of weeks when those tournaments are played. One year it was PC that was hit hard. This year it was BC and BU. BU lost to Yale 7-5 during that tournament this year. The only time I remember losing anyone to this situation was Tage one time and Mathew Wood one year. A couple of our international players may have also gone to play for their respective countries. Probably not the reason, but as good as any others I’ve heard. To contrast this, the Women’s side of HE have all played 15 or 16 league games at this point.Sorry if this has come up in the past, but does anyone know why UConn always plays more league games early than any other HE team? Seems like we always have 2 or 3 more games played in HE than anyone else. Happens each season. Always assumed it was related to XL availability in the past, but obviously that should not matter now.
I would suggest calling the UConn ticket office for an accurate answer. They are always quite helpful. Are there any specific UConn sections for these games?

Pleasant surprises thus far in the 2024-2025 campaign:Just keep winning!
Definitely their quickest team ever. It has allowed them to be much more aggressive pressuring all three zones. At times they have really caught opponents flat footed. It has stood out to me all season.Pleasant surprises thus far in the 2024-2025 campaign:
1) Leading the nation in Shorthanded goals. Even with the likes of Ryan Tverberg, the Huskies haven't had 7 Shorthanded goals over 3-4 seasons let alone a little more than half way through the season.
2) Team Speed
3) Strong Goaltending. Love Tung - he could be the next Devon Levi - stye's are similar and he sees the puck really well.
4) Better discipline overall. There isn't a major penalty taken what seemed to be every game last season
Like clockwork the Grim Reaper appears…Polls are meaningless. Pairwise matters for NCAA tourney qualification.
Would you rather be #17 in the USCHO poll, or #11 in Pairwise?Like clockwork the Grim Reaper appears…

Lose to Harvard (#46 Pairwise) and kiss an at-large NCAA bid goodbye. Win the HE tourney or sit out the NCAAs……… again.
