Anyone researched enough to know what lot I need to be in/pass I need to buy to be in the best position to tailgate at the MD game and how early people can show up? Thanks!

Lots open at 6:30am- we have a group tailgate (over 200 people right now). Here's the info from the MD tailgating thread that's pinned to the board- there's ideas where to park from the MD parking office in the post too:

Drew at theBaseballbus.com and I have coordinated on a tailgate for the Maryland game- we’ll be doing both breakfast and lunch for $10/person. The tailgate will be fairly basic- bagels, muffins, donuts, fruit, and juices for early pre-game (6:30am til 11 or so); and burgers/dogs with chips soda and probably salad from 11 til noon then after the game. BYOB, of course. We’re planning on a 200+ person tailgate, similar to the one we had at Michigan, and want to avoid the lines we had there so we’re keeping the grilling requirement to a minimum- keep in mind that just our two buses are over 90 people.

For those not on either of our buses, Drew spoke with the top parking guy for football at MD- UConn fans should be able to park very close to Drew’s bus (which will be in lot C1) for free the day of the game. His suggestion is for fans to get there early and target lots C2, L, K2, K1, K5 (found on this parking map- http://www.transportation.umd.edu/parking/maps/map_color.pdf). These are metered parking lots, but metered parking is free on Saturdays and will be close to completely empty at the time gates open at 6:30am. The lots listed hold between 300 and 400 cars, but I don’t know how quickly they will fill up so the sooner you get there the better.

If you’re not on the buses and will be joining us for the tailgate, please send Drew an email (info@thebaseballbus.com) and cc: me (phalen@ironwoodcap.com). If you’re on the bus, you don’t need to email us- we don’t want to double-count anyone.

Money for the tailgate will be due September 5th so we can get a good headcount. Payment info will be sent when you email us your RSVP.

Based on the UM stadium seating chart the UCONN seats are in section 2. I also prefer to sit with UCONN fans. It does make for a nice atmosphere. I have done this in Charlotte, Michigan, Toronto and many other games. But my thought for this game is Maryland doesn't sellout and moving over to the visitor section will not be a problem from what I have been told. Anyways, anyone who wants better seats we will start the game 2 sections over in section 4. I have a feeling there will be many UCONN fans around us at this game.

Love to see 3000 fans turnout or is that crazy?

were talking more than 3k. spread the word, #occupybyrd!

I just want to chant "inside handoff" every time he calls it on 3rd and long and Smallwood swallows the tailback in the backfield.

My flight doesnt land until 8PM. How long do you think you guys will be there?

The pub is right across the street from Camden Yards. It's a really good spot

.-.
Anyone on the Boneyard have tickets they are looking to sell for this game? Saw some on stubhub, but they were mainly obstructed view. Looked like a lot of Boneyarders loaded up on the livingsocial.com deal, just seeing if anyone was looking to sell some.

Alright guys--NC State is behind us, now we gotto focus on MD which means. Whats everyones plans for Friday night down in College Park. Any good bars you recommend? It would be fun if we all ended up at the same place.

Ditto for after the game to celebrate a UConn win. Back to the Marriott on the edge of campus to swarm the bar?

.-.
So for those of us joining the tailgate, but not on the buses, what are your plans for Saturday morning?

My group is staying at the Marriott on campus with Ryan Phalens group and trying to figure out how to get our beer/chairs over that way. Sounds like we'll be getting up early to park in one of the lots near C1.

Anybody have plans for Sat night ?

We sent out the e-mail last night:

Husky Fans,

This e-mail is going out to everyone that contacted theBaseballBus.com or Ryan Phalen in regards to the organized UConn tailgate this Saturday at the University of Maryland. We have over 290 UConn fans participating in this tailgate.

Everyone who RSVP’d is considered paid unless they’ve received an e-mail from Ryan saying otherwise. The parking lots open at 6:30am and we will need some time to set up and get organized/allow for the food to be delivered. From 7am on we will have fruit (apples, bananas, oranges, strawberries and grapes), bagels with cream cheese, pastries and muffins. Staring at 11am we’ll be adding burgers, hot dogs and chips to the breakfast spread. After the game the theBaseballBus.com is returning to Connecticut, but Ryan will be sticking around to grill up any remaining food items until either the food is gone or they ask everyone to clear the lots.

Please bring your own beverages, chairs, tailgate games, etc!

Also, theBaseballBus.com will have a 5x2 foot grill and a dedicated person for grilling. Ryan has also committed to bringing a grill and a dedicated person for grilling. If anyone is interested and able to bring a grill please consider doing so. Having a few extra grills will help the process of getting close to 300 people fed timely!

Beginning just before 7am there will be a check-in table in bus lot (C-1). Follow this link for a campus map where lot C-1 is clearly marked: http://www.transportation.umd.edu/parking/maps/map_color.pdf

We ask that each of you visit the check-in table open arrival to claim wristbands for your group. Our master list only includes the names of those that RSVP’d, so you will be responsible for distributing the wristbands to the rest of your group. The wristband will indicate that you have prepaid for the tailgate.

Let us know if you have any last minute questions, otherwise see you all Saturday!

P.S.- if you are driving down Friday afternoon and will be in the Baltimore area between 6 and 8pm I have put together a welcome reception for all UConn fans at a downtown pub. Contact me for details.

wow^ great job by both groups for this trip it sounds like. everyone enjoy the weekend down in MD!
