Think I remember hearing UK was on him hard, too. I believe he unofficially visited them earlier in the year. But nothing would make me happier than taking a Great Lakes beast I a player out of Big 10/UK/UL territory.

I thought you guys were making a hard run at Melvin Swift '14? Plan on running him out of town in '15 or '16?

I was at the NIU-UMass football game this past weekend. I feel bad for UMass.

If Ollie gets this kid, it'll signal a truly different era for UConn recruiting.

We've always been able to get kids from the big cities (NYC, LA, Chicago) and done pretty well in both Texas and Florida, but have never really been able to go into the midwest and come away with top talents. The closest would be Caron, but he was explicitly trying to get out of town.

Going into that area, going against the likes of Kentucky, IU, Michigan and Ohio St. and coming away with a prize recruit has always been a bridge too far for us. On a national level, only KU, UNC and Duke have done it consistently (though I believe Arizona has had a couple of top midwestern players recently).

It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds. It's a real signal of intent on Ollie's part to even consider it.

EDIT: Also, does anybody remember the last time we went head-to-head vs. Kentucky for a recruit and won? I'd absolutely love for it to start happening on a regular basis.

I believe UK was also in Drummond's final five.

Ah good point.

Still, it'd be pretty different for us to go into their neck of the woods and take one of their targets. I hope we're able to.

Oh God, not you again Clothy!!! The only one who should be run out of town is you, my friend.
Are you guys making the tourney this year? After all, it's been what, 16-17 years. Not too impressive, is it?

We should finish at the top of our conference and make the tourney. We will be very good. Maybe you'll get a chance to find out how good first hand?
