to the "better than Selvie" list add Bialosuknia, Corley. Hanson, Norm Bailey, and numerous others. Better JUCOs, Al Fredericks

Jimmy Foster was the best JC transfer ever at Uconn. I just dated myself, ugh!

This kid is 2 years away. He'd be a member of the 2013-2014 Huskies. Napier will be a senior and Boatright will be a junior. That's like saying it wasn't a good sign for AJ Price that we recruited Kemba Walker.
It seems like a few missed that little tidbit that he won't hit the D1 scene until 2013. Even if he was a 2012-Fall target, I would still not conclude that JC is not happy with either of our PGs. We're actually a tad thin at that position. It's always a good idea to have 3 on the roster.

It's best to have at least one upperclassman PG since you want leadership from that position. We got that last season with Kemba who was a junior. It's also a position to try to always stagger them one to two classes behind, so that you increase the odds of always having an experienced PG. By not being able to land one two years ago, put us in the position we are now where both our PGs are young, So & Fr, due to Kemba leaving after his junior season. The fact that JC is looking at a PG for 2013, would seem to point to him being very happy with the 2 he has. Now that's not to say he would not take a 2012 PG if UConn has a ship to use on one and if there's a very good one to be had.

Projecting the roster forward, I see Bazz as a clear 4 year player. Even when he was playing his best ball earlier in the season, I felt his size, lack of strength and hops, would make it unlikely for him to jump to the NBA early if at all. His play of late has put some pause in my mind and I know in the minds of others about his pro ceiling, but if he can return to what we were seeing earlier in the season, I think he could end up as a Steve Nash or John Stockton type PG that plays below the rim. I'm NOT saying he'd be as good as those two, but would be that type of NBA player if he can get that far.

As for Boatright, he's got NBA athleticism and all the tools to be an NBA PG. I would not be shocked that by the time he is a Junior he's going to be as good as Kemba or almost as good. In fact I didn't think Kemba would be the Kemba we now know when he was at the same stage that Boatright is at right now. It's hard to predict these things, but Boatright is quite advanced at this stage with a huge ceiling IMO. As confident as he has been, I'm not sure he's quite ready for some of the big moments he's going to face. I hope I'm wrong and he is able to perform with little fear of failure when the stakes continue to increase. He really showed us something in that first game against FSU in Atlantis. He's made some big plays since then, but he seemed to show some of the same lack of confidence we had been seeing with his teammates before the last game, which has given me pause as to how ready he really is. There's a lot of ball to be played and both he and Bazz can certainly be playing their best ball come March, so in my mind the jury is still out.

But as far as JC looking for a replacement for either or both, the facts just don't point to that. As pointed out they could use a 3rd PG or PG-Combo, but for now Lamb can man the point in emergency situations though is more suited to play off the ball. If he jumps to the NBA after this season, then they're going to need a 3rd option and I don't think Omar is that type of guard. This is just something to keep an eye on, though they do have that walk-on Brendan Allen that seemed to have enough game to hold his own if called upon.

The one thing the team needs and will continue to need is a big PG since both SN and RB are small. Teams have taken notice that the way to beat UConn is to play them physically, especially with harassing our guards. Being able to bring in a 6-2+ strong PG would be a nice addition. I didn't read up on this juco, so I don't know if he fits the bill. With that said, he's two season's away and I still wonder if JC will try to add a physical combo this spring if they get some of ships back.

Adding the Juco in 2013 would certainly create a bridge but as a few have pointed out, I too don't like adding Jucos, especially PG-Jucos since it takes a couple years to learn to run the team and they'll be gone by around the time their hitting their stride. I guess if he's a big time talent and he's surrounded by a lot of experienced players he'd be fine.

I think the staff wants a 4th guard in case of injury to SN, RB or Calhoun. The walkon guard we have is not even as good as Beverly was his freshman year (anyone remember the win at Indiana with Dyson and that other kid suspended?).

If I recall, he was a "preferred walk-on" transfer from Western - not a Juco transfer.

Ya your right, EJ's my cousin, he was originally a walk on from WesConn (he was conference MVP there)

With regards to this Jones fella, I like what I hear, but is it impossible to recruit a PG who's taller than 6'2", what's this kid like 5'10"......I'm still worried about the post season ban too next year, has to affect recruiting, no?

And a fellow Danbury High grad. I really admire EJ for giving up being a star in DIII to walk-on for the challenge of playing big time college ball. It's funny. There were better Danbury High players from DHS over the years like Anthony Harris (Syracuse/Hawaii) and Marcus McCullough (Kansas State), many of whom wasted their talent, yet EJ played on for an elite program and got a national championship. He has also had a very good pro career in England.

Never knew EJ went to Western. That's awesome. Too bad we didn't have anybody like that when I was there.

Is there a coincidence with this and the eligibility issue regarding RB?

Chuck? Aleksinas? He was a Kentucky transfer...
Chuck Aleksinas should be the big money question answer on Jepardy - the UConn edition.

Don't fret, Bazz will be back. Where in world do you think he'd go? A scoring pg is more like a replacement for RB. With the latest ripple of news and sitting out again , I fear the worst. I hate AAU always have always will.

Skinner Fredericks for sure, also add Ray Broxton, Willie McCloud and Spider Ursery to the list.
