UConn Injury Updates vs St John's 2/7/2025 at 8 PM EST at Gampel

Ross is not a great ball handler and he certainly is no point guard. St. John’s will strip him silly.

I agree that there's a level of gamesmanship here, but not with Diarra when the talk is about him playing through this the rest of the season. That's a real injury

Ben Gordon will use his final year of college eligibility to play PG in this game.
5D chess by Danny. We have the Johnnie’s right where we want them.

How are these guys getting hurt in practice? I know no one is playing defense.
Upon further reflection, while no one is playing quality defense I am quite certain the players are getting fouled like crazy. And you get unlimited fouls in practice.

That's a good question, I would say Ross if it comes to that. He's been playing better, at least defensively. It will be trial by fire for him. Not a great scenario playing St John's.

If only we had a guy with Big East point guard experience.... hmmm maybe Hurley is working on a special waiver for a fifth year.

Based on what I understand Diarra has tendinitis of the knee. That is something you can play through. He had 6 days to rest it, if not ready tomorrow when will he be?

Let’s see what happens - would be hysterical if he’s messing with Pitino. What is a minutes restriction - 39 or under?
Aren't knee problems what scuttled his brother too?

We really shouldn’t have Diarra guarding Richmond or Luis. Solo and Stew gotta grow up on D, fast.

It sucks but the home crowd (which will be sold out and LOUD) should make up for some mistakes and be good for the difference of a few points....

....right?

They seem to think our guys are soft. I disagree. I think they're finesse. But mentally they've shown they're going to fight until that horn blows. They're very confident. In the words of the great poet Adama Sanogo, "They thought they had a chance to win. They did not". Go Huskies!

It's such a downer. You get a week off. You think you're coming back healthy and ready to go and turns out the injury list is longer than ever. Looks like everyone is pushing themselves to their physical limit, trying to be better than they are, and the result is what you see.

It would be fun to see how quickly player Hurley would get T'ed up or fouled out by Big East refs.
