UConn in Unrivaled

I wish they would have a "tab" on the ESPN website. they have WNBA, WCBB, MCBB, etc. plus all the other sports - i have to imagine unrivaled has more interest at this time than NWSL, NLL, PLL or LLWS at this time...

Yes, but does Unrivaled have a contract with ESPN?

It was a fun watch. I hope Unrivaled makes it. They had half the viewership the first game this year vs last year.

That's an interesting point. I just thought that the EntertainmentandSportsProgrammingNetwork originally covered all sports because they didn't have any contracts with any sport. It never really broadcasted entertainment shows that were not sports based.

That may have been true when the network first started. That's not how they operate now.

It doesn't surprise me that some of the novelty has worn off. But they are very "Insta" friendly, so I'm betting it will build back up. Might take a couple of years, and little bit of an expanded schedule or location (a tournament in Hartford!!) but I think it's a solid product.

I edited my post because I left a word (not) out. My point was that from day one they reported sports news of most major sports. But today, I can't find any info on Unrivaled games.

It’s pretty easy. Just Google Unrivaled Scores.

A rough first game for UCONN alums in tonight's first game as the Phantom crushed the Lunar Owls. Tiffany Hayes, who had an excellent game against the Breeze, only played 5 minutes before she was sidelined with an injury and Aliyah Edwards had a very rough shooting night (although she did haul in eleven rebounds).

On the ESPN app? Um, I don't think so.

Start with post #26 above and then you can see why I was asking.
Your Google search has nothing to do with what I was responding to.

Stewie with the game winner in the nightcap. Her outside shot doesn't appear to be there yet, but a very gritty performance ending up in a double-double.

The Breeze met their match tonight vs the Rose (& an utterly unconscious 36 points from Gray).
Paige, once again, was not totally knockdown from the field, but did score 15 and come within a hair of the first triple double in Unrivaled's brief history with 9 rebounds and 9 assists.

It was an entertaining game from my perspective. The Breeze established a lead and then the Rose battled back. Think this was the closest game going into the 4th quarter this season.

As you can see from the previous post Aaliyah had a spectacular game (unfortunately, in another loss).
Stewie had a pretty rough shooting night (particularly pretty close to the basket), but, otherwise had a good game, and Tiffany scored 8 in a supporting role in a win.

Doesn't help that Collier and Diggins are out for the Owls roster depth. At the same time, it's given Aaliyah more opportunities on the floor and she's taking advantage of it. Hopefully Diggins returns soon to help bolster the offence because Aaliyah and Mabrey can't do it all by themselves.

It's been awhile since I posted in this thread, but, even though the Laces probably deserved to win tonight over the Breeze, I am incredulous over the one-sided ineptitude of the refs in this game. It seemed like it was the same crew that officiated UCONN'S last game vs Seton Hall (but, I can't attest to that as refs are not listed in Unrivaled's box scores).
Take my observations with a grain of salt, perhaps, as I tend to pull for Paige and the other alums, but in a game where the announcers preemptively noted that the Laces were a very physical team and that that was going to be their approach to guarding Paige, it was she who was saddled with 4 first half fouls. Actually, it was initially 5 fouls, but the Breeze were forced to use their only challenge to reverse an erroneous call on Paige where she actually cleanly blocked a shot. Of the other 4 fouls, 2 were extremely dubious, including one where Naz Hillman (it seemed) tripped herself up while doing a spin move near the basket and another where there was very incidental contact.
Keep in mind that this is within the context of Paige getting trucked twice by Alyssa Thomas without a call (who, remarkably, only had one foul for the game), Paige being guarded mostly by Sykes (who was not in any foul trouble in the first half) and Thomas, and sundry other missed calls which went against the Breeze (including a missed call on an out of bounds and a Thomas hand to to Brink's broken nose-which sent her out of the game and, of course, went uncalled in the final quarter).
To be honest, when push came to shove, the Breeze (including Paige) just could not hit their field goals in the 4th quarter, which meant that they were unable to make up the 5 point deficit heading into the finale.
I'm looking forward to an eventual rematch with a competent set of officials and both teams being at full strength (the Breeze were without Aari McDonald and Rickea Jackson, and the Laces were without Maddie Siegrist & it seemed that Jackie Young and Thomas may have been nursing injuries).
I can accept losses, but when there are incompetent refs with a perceivable agenda, I sometimes feel the need to vent...
Oh, and Aaliyah and Paige were both really good in their games (both losses).

Paige did not shoot well last night; they were missing Rickea Jackson and Ari McDonald. They had to add a girl named Williams taken from the developmental squad. I don't know who she is, but she sure likes to take shots, most of which did not connect. Hopefully will be at full strength next week when the league travels to Philadelphia.

Definitely a physical game, but I had a different thought the situation with Thomas and Brink. Initially I thought the same as you, but the replay looked like Thomas got Brink's mask, which went into her nose. Don't know if they can call a foul on that. It should have been reviewed for an unobserved foul, if that rule applies, to be sure though.

I have a feeling that the mask has to be considered part of the face, just as a knee brace is part of the leg (which can be fouled if someone knocks into your knee).
