Wish they put teams with some of the players. Not easy to tell all the jerseys. Is that the new Bucs jersey Danny L is rocking?? God they look awful!

He missed all of last year with an undisclosed injury, was trying to make the switch to an undersized 3-4 OLB, is now playing for a head coach and D coordinator, who were not there when he was drafted, and the number one pick in the NFL draft is competing for the same position. I think some combination of those three is probably why.

Jordan Todman off to good start

>>JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to make Toby Gerhart their workhorse back, possibly giving him 20-plus touches a game. But he can’t be on the field for every play, and that’s when Jordan Todman is expected to take over.

The third-year player from Connecticut has quietly had a good start to training camp. During Wednesday morning's full-pads practice he broke a couple runs, including one in which he accelerated past linebacker Nate Stupar to break free into the secondary. He has made plays like that throughout camp and appears, right now at least, to have a solid hold on the No. 2 spot behind Gerhart.

"You’re seeing him break some," Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said. "The other day he had one where he broke and you saw him accelerate. Today he had another one, and I think that’s what we’re counting on him for -- to give that change-up, that burst that we know he has." <<

Kevin Ollie was my favorite UCONN basketball player. I looked every morning at the Box Scores to see how he did no matter what team he was on. . Danny Lansanah is falling into that category. Living on sheer willpower to make it.

Good for Stephen and Smallwood. Wish Smallwood had stayed another year under Diaco.

Jaguars CB Dwayne Gratz can develop into difference-maker

>>Aside from the expected buzz about Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles, a young player on defense appears to be making significant progress at becoming a difference-maker: Dwayne Gratz.

The second-year cornerback looks like he has the instincts/physicality to be a run-stopper and generate turnovers, something that’s a huge point of emphasis for coach Gus Bradley. When the Jaguars drafted Gratz in the third round last year, some wondered about not taking the other starting cornerback at Connecticut, Blidi Wreh-Wilson, who went eight picks later to the Tennessee Titans. Bradley felt Gratz was a better fit for his press-coverage scheme because of his mental toughness and being more “stout” at 5-11, 201 pounds.

“To play our style in press [coverage], it takes a certain type of mentality to play that,” Bradley said. “He has the toughness, the mind-set, to do it play after play.”

In Thursday’s preseason game against the Chicago Bears, that toughness was evident as Gratz made six tackles in three series, including two impressive open-field stops on Matt Forte. Gratz is still adjusting to the new illegal contact rules being called at a high frequency. But if he can stay healthy this season (he missed six games with ankle injuries in 2013), don’t be surprised if Gratz has a breakout-type year that most people expect from safety Johnathan Cyprien.<<

Last year, Danny Lansanah played in one regular season NFL game, his first since the 2008 season. That's an interesting note, but Lansanah would prefer to be more than a piece of trivia.
