UConn in the NFL

Hurt for the year I thought.
Pec injury, but he's back off IR and played late in the LG slot last Sunday against the Rams when Grey Zabel got hurt. Haynes got bull rushed several steps backwards on one snap but recovered his ground before he got pushed into the QB, and struggled on one other snap, but the rest of his 8 or so snaps on the last drive were okay. I'd imagine he mostly practiced at right guard, not left.

He's likely to play a lot against the Titans, probably again at left guard, because Zabel (a much better player) is limited in practice and the Seahawks would be foolish to risk exacerbating his injury against the low-octane Titans. I'm hoping Haynes can show that his strength/technique has improved enough to better hold his own against NFL defensive linemen, and that he can become a useful piece on OL. They need depth there.

I turned on the Pats-Ravens game and they played the clip where the players say their name and school

"Travis Jones - Connecticut"

a friend reminded me Travis committed a penalty against the Steelers 2 weeks ago allowing the Steelers to get a touchdown rather than a field goal. The NFL actually came out and said that call was wrong.

Not the only key Connecticut alum for the Ravens. Among the people walking with the injured Lamar Jackson to Baltimore’s locker room was Dr Leigh Ann Curl ‘85, past Huskies’ basketball player , current NFL Physician of the Year, Ravens’ team orthopedic surgeon (who also assists with Orioles and Univ of Maryland athletics), the first female NFL team doctor, orthopedics head of a Baltimore hospital, alumna of Johns Hopkins Med, etc.

Getting a tad off topic here...but Zavier Scott at 26 Y/O is playing his first season in the NFL. What a road; UConn, then Maine and then years on NFL practice squads.

This guy didn't half of what Vic did here, though i felt he was just not used right here. Kid was a grade A athlete.

Happy for the young man, but disappointed he’s not been able to find a starting role.

It seems like it is more difficult than it should be to find the info, but I did see Haynes on the sideline and on the active roster for yesterday, correct?

Understood. But NFL has the funky rule where only 48 dress for the game.

And the crazy thing about the healthy scratches from the 53 man roster is they still get a full game paycheck.
