UConn in the NBA Nov 2025

I realize it’s very early in the season, but is there any cause for concern over Liam McNeeley’s PT?

With LaMelo Ball out, Kon Knueppel (32.4 mpg, 16.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 2.8 apg) seems to be taking over the Hornets’ offense. Liam, by contrast, is averaging 12.5 mpg, 4.1 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.2 apg.

I’d like to see more UConn “presence” in the NBA, besides Steph and, hopefully, DC.
Liam was hurt to start the season, I'm sure they were easing him back in and suffered an illness on Friday and didn't play. And his minutes were trending upwards the last few games.

Let's see how his minutes progress throughout the season. If he is still averaging less then 15 minutes per game come January, then there might be some cause for concern. I think he is just a very young player still trying to find his footing. Remember he is only 20.

I don't even think he NEEDS it to become an All-Star caliber player, but if he could just get his 3-pt shot up around 35%, he would become an absolute MONSTER. But even without a reliable 3-pt shot, he's still showing he can be an All-NBA type player.
His 3s will improve. He will be an all star for a long time.

Clingan with a decent game going. Has a double double (16 and 10) in the third (6-11 FG, 2-6 3FG). The last 3 he missed was after getting two offensive rebounds and drawing a foul going after a third on that one possession, so he earned a chance to miss.

Castle pulled at the half with a hip injury today. Obviously hope it’s just precautionary and the only long term issue will be that it’ll hurt his per game scoring a bit (4 pts).

Was just checking the box score and noticed his minutes, was wondering what happened. Thanks for the info, but sorry for the news.

Looking forward to Memphis vs Spurs tomorrow (Tuesday) on NBC/Peacock at 8. Hopefully, Steph is fine and plays in game.

Annoyingly Liam is out sick and I was at Raptors/Hornets tonight. Was hoping to see him in person, but alas bad timing.

Great game though, overall. Knueppel is a baller, he is like a coach's son.

Earlier this afternoon I saw a mention on ESPN that Castle will be out for one or two
weeks....did not see the reason.

BTW ESPN also said that Wemby will be out a 'few weeks'....calf issue.
After that time period he will be evaluated.

Spurs have had an excellent start ....BUT.

Just checked: Castle has a left hip flexor strain....out 2-3 weeks.

Strong half for Cam in a battle between the depleted Grizz and the depleted Spurs - 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-4 3FG). They also ran a great play for him coming out of a timeout for a clean look at a three and he buried it, but they called a defensive holding foul way away from the ball as he was shooting and took the attempt away. D got rewarded for fouling on that one.

Clingan off to a good first half with 7 pts, 9 rbds, 2 assists and 3 blocks. 3-5, 0-0, 1-1.

I will say two of his offensive rebounds were on the same play and really didn't amount to anything but it was a flukey play where Avida airballed an end of shot clock jumper and Clingan tried to reverse the ball in before the clock went off then he was falling out of bounds on the second one and threw a bad pass. The other two netted a foul on the suns + missed three, and a layup.

He's been doing a lot more rolling and living around the rim.

Some of the rolls created some open 3s too. Wanted to get a screengrab of it but can't rewind on peacock.

Is it me or did he dunk more/look more athletic and mobile here?

He's noticeable faster than last year up and down the court, he's lost weight.

He was smart to come out when he did and get a decent payday. Does he get another Nba contract?
Obviously I’m biased in his favor, but I’d say he definitely gets another contract. It seems likely not with the Bucks, but his defense, athleticism, and personal traits are too valuable taken altogether for some other team not to pick him up.
