What has happened to the Knicks?
Five of the six teams who've made the IST final over the past 3 years have collapsed afterward.

I'm a soccer guy first and foremost, and... this is completely normal. Teams that empty the tank going all-out for a mid-season title tend to immediately hit the doldrums afterward. If you want a recent example, Barcelona just dominated Real Madrid in the Spanish SuperCup (10th straight win), and followed that up by barely beating 2nd division side Racing Santander and then losing to Real Sociedad.

It's just hard to emotionally recover. Only the very best teams can do it. And while the Knicks are fun and will be good again soon, they are not amongst the very best teams.

They’re defense is also just not very good right now. It’s hard with 2 guys (KAT and Brunson) that are pretty significant minuses on that side of the court.

Couple of my buddies are HUGE Knicks fans and are getting very frustrated with both of them, along with Mike Brown.

When someone says one thing and you provide film proof it’s not the case but they still stick with it, they’re either lying or incredibly stupid. I’m trying to give some credit by saying they’re lying.
That's pretty rich coming from a person who ignores any and all information that might contradict their own opinions and ideas. Do you lead your real life with the same overconfidence and disdain for other points of view or is this just an internet thing?

He seems to be really fragile, we all saw it his freshman season. He's a shooter who can't shoot at all in the NBA, not sure if it's all a confidence thing or if his shooting was also overrated. He was never really consistent.

Jackson and Hawkins sadly look like they don't belong in the NBA right now.
Can't say for sure but going pro for some young guys (who may or may not have issues) is doubling trying. It is a hell of a change from college and some might say grueling with travel on one night basis etc. Why Ollie made a long career just helping younger guys. Hawk should also be a millionaire and then some by now so not the end of the world and he has a real competitive desire which will go a long way because training (discipline) and desire are portable. Wish him the best of outcomes for him. There is an expression "you are more than your job or you are not your job" they everyone has to learn eventually in life. Pro athletes have to learn it a lot earlier than he rest of us. Human being not a human doing. Hawk had to grow up young and thrown out of the pan of college hoops into the fire of the NBA.

This kid comes from a great family and has a strong work ethic. A change of scenery will do wonders for him. I'll always follow his career and pull for him no matter where his game takes him.

Castle inefficient (5-14) - but on perhaps a triple double watch with 13-6-8 late in the third. Had a nice windmill dunk while being fouled.

Pulled up the end of Newton’s G-League game on YouTube He finished with 32-3-6 on 12-20 shooting 3-7 from 3 and 2 turnovers. Game tied late and he ran a nice pick and roll for the go ahead basket, then hit both free throws with 6 seconds to seal it. He did come out on the ensuing defensive possession up by 6 - possible his defense could be what’s holding him back from a call up, since his numbers on offense look great every time I look.

Steph is in a huuuuge shooting rutt

He Wemby and Fox combined to shoot 16-55. Real ugly

that bballbreakdown tweet about Steph from Christmas day aging like his Harrison Barnes tweet from a decade+ ago

NBC had players introduce themselves last night, some went with their college Steph went with Covington GA.

You guys remember August 9,2025? That was a really good day.

Hey random guy who’s probably never played basketball competitively before.

Here’s how these things work.

The coaching staff didn’t actually push DC to start taking 3s. DC has said since the combine that he could shoot 3s. So it’s something he’s invested a lot of time in. Since it’s something he invested a lot of time in a coaching staff will work that into their plans. Especially on a developing team like the Blazers.

Thats how these things actually work. Not a coaching staff encouraging a 7’ to go out his way to develop shooting. It’s something DC is going out of his way to work hard at doing so they let him.

Hurley was right to have him focus on the things he should’ve been focusing on here.
This video from a hornets assistant on modern NBA development couldn't have come at a better time.

“We want to make them CEO of their development. We present our thoughts to them and we get their thoughts, we get them to take ownership of it and go out and execute the plan.”

McNeeley is on a guaranteed NBA contract, big difference
Yeah, and he doesn't even have to work up a sweat. Guaranteed 2nd round money. Should have stayed and probably become a first round pick, maybe even a lottery, like Knipple, who actually was a legit one-and-done.

Mike Brown
Wait, wait, are you saying he's worse than Tom Thibodeau? Many on here last June said all of the Knicks' problems were because of Thibodeau.

DC, 7pts, 8 board, plus 12. In win over Miami last night.

The Trail Blazers have the best record in the NBA (9-2) in January.
They’re making a real push. Are comfortably in the play in bracket at #9, and with Jimmy Butler down and out, their sights should be set on overtaking the Warriors at #8

Everyone is feasting. Avdija is averaging 29 PPG in Jan. 22 for Shaedon. 16 for Caleb Love (??). 14 on 50% for Camara. And of course 12.5 points and 12 rebounds for Clingan. He has dropped 7% in FG% from December, but still at 55%. Averaging 30 minutes a game in January which is amazing considering he had some real conditioning issues earlier in his career

Clingan is already an amazing second year player and there’s still so much more room to grow. I love watching this

Portland Trail Blazers

Lesson at the halfway mark: Donovan Clingan might become a 3-point shooter.

Clingan entered the league in 2024 as a bona fide defensive force. What wasn't expected from the 7-foot-2, 280-pound center was his improved ability from beyond the arc. And though it's still too early to declare Clingan as the league's next great stretch-5, his shooting is raising eyebrows around the league. Yes, he's only up to 31% on roughly three attempts per game, but that number has been buoyed by a 12-for-23 clip in December. Even hitting at 35% would be a massive boost to Portland's long-term future given Clingan's abilities at the other end of the court.

😱

This story was pretty cool on a discussion from two of the best defensive players ever on how they looked at guarding these different shots.
