Missed chances. 4 hits 2bb and a HBP and 1 run to show. Not being negative, their not good enough to win that over the course of the tournament. 3-0 to Broadhurst no production and then the obvious play at the plate…grind out a win but these things have been season long.
Healy has not been good at all. He's been very fortunate (so far).

Listened to the pregame show on the way home. Garbo is sick, got the flu bug that Studley had, Broadhurst had it as well at one point. Garbowski might be able to play later the weekend.

Mentioned that I listened to the pregame show on the radio broadcast that is on 97.9. During the pregame show, they interviewed Chris Jones.

Top 4th, UConn offense has a scoreless inning that ends with a double play after a leadoff walk. Game tied at 1.

Bunting in the 3rd inning, yuck!!
Not being able to execute a bunt by a 3rd year 3rd string catcher who’s primary job is defensive and when given AB’s the odds of you being asked to bunt/ sacrifice I would have thought was a given. Pendersball?

If he went for the plate with his lead leg he would have beaten the tag.

It's a really low percentage play to allow the second out to be made at home there, but it's hard to beat up on Penders when this team has been so horrific this year at moving runners along with productive outs.
See, e.g., Hyde popping up a bunt in the top of the 4th, after Studley gets a leadoff walk. And that leads to a GIDP by Minnick. Ryan Hyde is a .100 hitter. How he can't be ready to successfully sacrifice when he has the opportunity is very sad.

Bottom 4th, after giving up a 1 out double, Cooke has a scoreless inning, game tied at 1. Cooke has 3 strikeouts so far in the game.

Cooke doing an amazing job holding Duke to 1 run in 4 innings. Duke is an offensive machine but gives up runs. We need far more from the offense. We're getting chances but need to string more good at bats together.
They have completely outplayed Duke and here we go

Bottom 5th, Cooke has as scoreless inning leaving 2 runners on base after giving up 2 singles with less than 2 out, Cooke gets a strikeout to end the inning. Game tied at 1.

Duke pitching change with runners on the corners, no outs top of the 6th

Top 6th, Morton with a leadoff walk (seems to me that Morton has been picking up a bunch more walks of late in recent games than he was earlier in the season). Morton moves to 3B on an error on a pickoff attempt with no out. Padilla follows with a no out walk to put runners on the corners.

With 1 out, Studley bunts, but Morton is thrown out for the 2nd out. UConn has runners at 2B and 3B. Hyde with an RBI single driving in 2 runs, 3-1 UConn.
