Don't think so. It was a block - therefore no shot - no rebound.

A block results in a missed shot (otherwise there is nothing to block). Every missed shot has to have a rebound - so if she caught a shot she blocked, she'd get a block and rebound both, all in one.

Nurse knocking them down in the last few minutes.
Great stats for her - 11 points and 9 assists? That's impressive! Maybe she should have guarded Williams!!

Seems obvious now that Gabby Williams isn't going to play against quality teams this year in the tourney. She's still barely seen the floor against the better teams this year.

UConn was not even in the bonus! As physical as USF played, the refs struggled to give them fewer than 7 fouls. Still USF made shots. They would beat ANY team not named UConn, on this night.

Surely it was not 1 on 5! No wonder USF went on a run! ;)
Interesting. I wonder what Geno will make of the 2nd half - USF basically played UCONN even for the full 20 minutes. Not sure how much he went to the bench, but aside from Stanford, who else played UCONN that close for 20 minutes?
Not much - starters got a lot of minutes tonight

I doubt much of the bench sees action in the tourney with the exception of Stokes. Everyone else is too inconsistent still.

He can't be happy with the second half, but... UConn needed this type of game. Too many easy wins in the AAC. They will not get a better game from an opponent, IMHO. UConn is very good and I am not sure USF can repeat the performance away from home. All in all, give the team things to work on and keeps them more focused.

Not a great 2nd half for the team. They lost focus on both ends of the court. Definitely gives USF added confidence entering the AAC Post Season tournament. Won't beat UConn, but good preparation for the NCAA tournament.

Seems Uconn girls just wanted this game to be over while USF kept play hard. But as you can see nobody can stop our starting 5. We will be ready and play better for the AAC tournament

Nurse knocking them down in the last few minutes.

Someone should let Nurse know that the purpose of having KML remain in the game for a few more minutes is to get several more opportunities at the 3.

I like to see Kia shooting it. Needs to regain her touch in time for the post-season. I don't think KML needs much more practice at shooting 3s.

Kenny Kalina has told me not many schools recruited Courtney Williams. She could start for most teams in the country.

While it might be understandable since Kenny is from Florida, he does say HS players in Florida are overlooked by many schools.
I think Williams could play anywhere.

Got back from the game about ten minutes ago. You're right. The refs were horrible. Doris Burke has said it before. Just because a team is better doesn't mean you try to even things up. They might as well have tackled Breanna, and Morgan was pushed out and had her arm hacked on a shot close in, but there was a bogus call and no call. Saniya and Gabby did not play well. Moriah wasn't her usual self either. It was Breanna, Morgan and KML. CD seemed unusually subdued. Marissa was the one talking to Geno and exhorting the players to play hard. The more I see her, the more I realize she would be an excellent head coach. Highlights of Huskies over USF titled "Stewart Crushes USF"! Couldn't agree more. By the way, Marissa would also be the most beautiful head coach. She looked incredible in her black dress.

Geno still has Chong in game!
They are taking turns face guarding Williams. She looks great in the flow offensively all the time. Has seemed to come on defensively certainly this season. But anyone who has a DVR and a rewind button can watch 3 defensive plays in a row that looked like the Stanford game. That's just the way it was.

USF is playing as well as any team we have seen against UConn, so far. This includes SC, Stanford and ND. They look good, so far.
U R 100% correct! And no one this season played any harder in the 2nd half- right till the end. I'll bet Jose F could coach with just about anyone. If he was able to land that one more person on many of his team's, he'd make a lot of noise.

And Courtney Williams is as good as anyone I've seen against us this year.

It was a solid win, but between our sloppy second half play, defensive lapses and the overall rebounding deficit, Geno was provided with lots of ammunition for practice. Stewie was tremendous, took a beating but showed she is one tough cookie. KNurse got her game back on track with a super effort tonight (11 pts, 9 assists, 3 rebs, 2 assists and just 1 t/o) and would have earned my star of the game were it not for #30's monster effort. Looks like she's putting it all together at the right time.

No doubt Courtney Williams is a tremendous shooter/scorer, but she seems a bit of a hot dog, trying to make fancy, difficult shots and pass that sometimes is unnecessary.

I too thought USF played great and never gave up. This is was very physical game with UConn getting hammered inside. I think the game plan was to go down low where the mismatches were and I think UConn played a little to quick at times. Saniya was just a little to quick getting off her shot. Hey we won by 20+ and USF played tuff gotta give'em credit for that. I too think they are a 2 maybe 3 seed if they continue to play like that. So we enter the conference tournments and other then UConn any body has a chance in other conferences to win it. In the NCAAs same thing. UConn and everybody else and it wont be close.

Courtney Williams was great. She got by Moriah a few times and I have not
seen much of that all season. I think Williams is a terrific player. USF can
cause some havoc in the NCAA Tourney. They played very hard.

By the way, did anyone notice that as soon as Kiah Stokes came in the game
Uconn went on a 15-2 run? USF didn't get into the paint to often when she
was in during that run. Prior to Kiah, USF was getting in the paint.

Kiah is intimidating. If during the later stages of the tourney a team's game plan is to knock Stewie to the floor as much as they can, I suggest drawing up some plays on offense where Kiah cuts hard to the basket in the paint. Even if a charge is called, it will be a message well sent.
