Hartford kinda helped us that inning, but we will take it.

And now Jacob Wallace seems to be helping the Hawks with a leadoff walk and then throws away a bunt attempt.

3-3, two runners on, still 0 outs. Just a horrible outing by Wallace.

Wallace gives up two hits which scores two runs. Wallace getting pulled without getting any outs. Domnarski coming in.

Those runs are on Wallace. You cannot walk the leadoff on 4 pitches, then make a throwing error on a sac bunt.

6-3 going into the bottom of the 6th, Domnarski continues his disappointing year.

A two out single gives Hartford a 5-3 lead, another single gives them a 6-3 lead. Stefanski throws out a runner at 3rd to end the inning.

Hartford has one of the worst staffs in college baseball. This lack of production is ridiculous.

UConn needs the top half of the lineup to produce since the bottom half just doesn't give you much offense at all. And it becomes much more of a problem when Feldstein is either in a slump or out of the lineup.

Top of the order is up in the person of Willy Yahn, and he hits a solo homer to lead off the 7th to make it 6-4.

Not plating that runner in the 6th may cost us the game. You have to be to get a runner in from 2nd with no one out in that situation.

6-4 going to the 9th, the two out rally falls short.

We are in trouble again if we do not win this series with Memphis.

I hope this team does not do what last years team did where anytime they got anything going they followed it up by losing 5-6 straight. Unfortunately I don't believe this team has any quality depth. Late innings and midweek games will be hard to watch all year.

Another game where the Husky starting pitcher did not go three innings. For this team that spells trouble, especially since I thought we were getting to the stage where we could depend on Rossomando for 5 good innings. I'm not too concerned about the weekend series since I expect Cate, Montgomerie, and Feole to go fairly deep into games with quality starts. As for hitting, this team needs a healthy and non slumping Feldstein to play like he did earlier in the season, John Toppa to come back from his injury hit like he did last season, and for freshmen like Winkel and Moriarty to do something more with their bats. I have to say that is a lot of ifs.

One good thing to come out of this game was the pitching of CJ Dandeneau. He showed last season that he can be quite a relief pitcher, but after several bad outings recently, it seemed that he had been left for dead. Hopefully he is starting to reemerge to being someone who can give get you some quality innings out of the bullpen.

Kind of reminds me of the hockey team. Would beat a top 10 team then turn around and lose to a team they should beat. Can't give these ones up.

Huskies Drop Home Opener, 6-4

Notes
  • CJ Dandeneau recorded a career-best 2.1 innings pitched on Wednesday.
  • Willy Yahn belted his seventh home run of his career and first of 2017. Yahn is in the midst of a six-game hit streak
  • Zac Susi logged a two-hit performance and registered his ninth multi-hit game of the year, tied for tops on the team.
  • John Toppa had two hits on Wednesday to grab his second multi-hit game of the season
The Huskies try to regroup Friday, April 7 at 3 p.m. against Memphis at J.O. Christian Field. The Tigers come to town for a three-game set to resume conference play.
