Top 7th, UConn loads the bases with 1 out. Broadhurst with a 1 out walk to bring in a run. 11-7 UConn. Hyde also with a 1 out walk to bring in a run. 12-7 UConn. Smith with a 2 out bases loaded walk to make it 13-7 UConn.

Pitching change. By the way, 13 walks for UConn batters tonight so far.

Top 7th, a 2 out wild pitch brings in another run for UConn, 14-7 UConn. Another walk combined with a wild pitch makes the score 15-7 UConn. Freeberger follows a with an RBI single, 16-7 UConn going to the bottom of the inning.

Hoping this lead allows Jude Abbadessa to make an appearance on the mound tonight for UConn.

Bottom 7th, Coe still on the mound to start the inning. Coe loads the bases with 3 walks and 2 outs. A 2 out single brings in 2 runs to make it 16-9 UConn. Coe coming out of the game.

Coe threw 49 pitches tonight, more than I would have expected after his Friday night stint. Brady Afthim takes the mound.

Hawaii with an RBI single to make it 16-10 UConn, runners at the corners. Afthim with a strikeout to end the inning.

Hopefully we get six more outs and get out of here with a win that their pitching staff did everything in their power to gift to us. And sports are binary — you win or you lose. But man, eventually we’re going to have to play cleaner baseball to have a good year. The thought that you could take a 9 run lead into the bottom of the 7th and walk three straight batters is just painful.

Top 8th, Padilla with a 1 out double, his bat looks to be heating up. Broadhurst follows with a 1 out rbi double of his own, 17-10 UConn going to the bottom of the inning.

Top 9th, UConn loads the bases with no outs, 2 more walks. Studley follows with an RBI ground out for the first out, 18-10 UConn going to the bottom of the inning.

Chris Jones dreaming about Abbadessa or one of the other lesser used pitchers (Michael Quigley or Joe Carrea) for UConn possibly coming in to pitch the 9th inning. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing that.

Michael Quigley takes the mound to start the bottom of the 9th.

There are just so many walks, you almost feel like these umps must really have tight strike zones. I hope our pitchers aren't this wild.

Chris Jones has been complaining about the umpires and the strike zone all through this series.

Bottom 9th, M. Quigley gets a strikeout sandwiched between a couple of walks. He is coming out of the game, Jude Abbadessa coming in to pitch.

M. Quigley is said to have great stuff, but he also has a history in previous seasons of a big lack of control. Check out his stats for last season with UMass Lowell.

Again, you can’t come in to the 9th to protect an 8 run lead and walk 2 of 3 batters. My god, throw strikes and if someone goes yard big deal. How in one year we went from a team that didn‘t walk anybody to this ….

We walked eight. Which was half as many as they walked. This is like kids below the majors level in little league. Hopefully we can win the last game, get back to the mainland and try to play something that looks more like baseball.

One thing that is refreshing about this team is their team first mentality. They always seem to give credit to the coaching staff and teammates.

Good to see Ryan Hyde have a really solid game for UConn, hopefully it is just the start of things for him. I enjoyed watching Hyde play summer ball in Norwich last year, one thing that he showed last summer was he had really good strike zone judgement when he was hitting.

Confirmation that Jack Sullivan will get the start on the mound in the last game of the series. Also, sounds like we might be seeing more of Jude Abbadessa on the mound in the coming games. Offense looking good, but need to get the first 2 guys in the lineup, Smith and Morton, going at the plate.
