Wasn't sure if I read it on the Boneyard or not, but didn't someone mention that Hurley wasn't interested in playing OOC games outside of New England/Mid Atlantic (aside from preseason tournaments)?
Texas at Gampel was 14-15, OSU was 15-16. OSU beat Kentucky in 15-16, ended up a 3 seed in the NIT. We lost to OSU at OSU in 16-17.Was that the same year? I thought the year we blew them out they were terrible, and the next year we lost a close game to them in Ohio then they beat Kentucky.
I hope we're not turning down games against Arizona, Texas and Florida.
That you are in New Jersey. What exactly are these games supposed to make us remember?
And that we don't give up. Like when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.I'm guessing Pearl Harbor
Was there some kind of risk that Americans were actually going to forget that 9/11 happened?
I always found it funny too. Like, really? Has anyone been like "Yo dude, remember 9/11? I completely forgot about that!"Not gonna lie, that's a weird rationale to create an annual nonconference college basketball game that occurs in early November. Was there some kind of risk that Americans were actually going to forget that 9/11? happened?
It's a good strategy. There is more than enough long distance travelling in the conference. A road trip like Arizona then Auburn is nuts, even if you are good! Who ever scheduled that was not thinking clearly.Wasn't sure if I read it on the Boneyard or not, but didn't someone mention that Hurley wasn't interested in playing OOC games outside of New England/Mid Atlantic (aside from preseason tournaments)?
I don't disagree with the strategy to re-establish ourselves in the area, especially since that gives me 4 games I can get to easily, but this really does suck for season ticket holders.
and there are plenty of good teams in the north east and mid-Atlantic that we can do a home/home with while avoiding crazy travel schedules. It's a good strategy. Yes there are. I doubt Hurley would object to the likes of Ohio State or WVU. Not exactly northeast, but not far away. But that road trip to Arizona then a couple days later at Auburn, that's some seriously bad scheduling.and there are plenty of good teams in the north east and mid-Atlantic that we can do a home/home with while avoiding crazy travel schedules.
In a podcast I heard Hurley talk about scheduling. He was basically in charge of it at Wagner and URI. He said at UConn most of that stuff is already sorted out about the Athletic Department, but with his experience creating schedules I'm sure he has a good idea of what he wants it to look like.Yes there are. Multi-game road trips are good for team building.and there are plenty of good teams in the north east and mid-Atlantic that we can do a home/home with while avoiding crazy travel schedules.
Or veterans dayI'm guessing Pearl Harbor
I stayed at the Holiday Inn there once and the place was surrounded by razor wire.Honest question - is Newark nice or nah? I know literally nothing about Newark but might make the trip down from Boston and make a weekend out of it
As a alum in DC this is music to my ears. See you all in December!

The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. And that we don't give up. Like when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

Newark's downtown has cleaned up but it's certainly not a city you want to spend the weekend in.Honest question - is Newark nice or nah? I know literally nothing about Newark but might make the trip down from Boston and make a weekend out of it
City is okay. Pru Center is great, not a bad seat in the house. Parking easy, and a few good bars/restaurants surrounding center. I would recommend Dinosaur Barbeque. Huge beer list and great barbeque. You could stay over in the city. Only about a 20 min train from either WTC or PennHonest question - is Newark nice or nah? Yes you have a point. But anyone who travels a lot for work knows how tiring travel can be. I know these guys are young and way more resiliant than me ( a dead fish is in better shape than I am), but going to different time zones throws your body clock off. Everything is disrupted. Sleep schedule, eating, going to the toilet and so on. I don't think that Arizona, Auburn trip was a good idea. You put yourself at a definite disadvantage.Multi-game road trips are good for team building.
